Bloggers are now talking about the Google’s newly acquired “SketchUp” software. On its homepage we’ll find this short description of it:
SketchUp is a simple but powerful tool for quickly and easily creating, viewing and modifying your 3D ideas. (link)
I haven’t tested it yet but according to the Google Blog, it can be used to create 3D models which can also be used with the Google Earth.
It’s amazing!
In other words I can create a 3D model of my dream home which will be built on certain location. But, I am wondering if it would be possible to get an image and structure of the exact proposed location, using the Google Earth, where it should be built, and then create the 3D model of my dream home on top of the image of the proposed location.
Well, I tried to search for the posted 3D models created using this software and I found it at the Google 3D Warehouse. There are more than 6,000 models uploaded already. It seems that I am already late in discovering it.

try also 3dMax or Studio Viz… although it’s not downloadable… it is what most Interior Design & Architectural firms use for modelling up home/building design proposals… =) … I’m an interior designer…
