Franklin BIB-1450 King James/New International Dual BibleThis post was actually influenced by the post on a blog “The Life Already in Progress” (link). According to its blogger, Christians are those who have their before Christ and after Christ; Those who surrender to the will of God; and those who are part of the fellowship of believers.

Well, I want to comment it with my own opinion but I think, it will be better if I will try the Bible to comment about it.

First of all, if you’re not still aware of, I want to tell you that the first time the term CHRISTIAN was used is during the time of Apostle Paul in Antioch.

26and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch. (Acts 11:26, NIV)

Who are those people who are called Christians? According to that same verse, the disciples or the members of the church.

26and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch. (Acts 11:26, NIV)

Apostle, called them Churches of Christ too:

5 Likewise greet the church that is in their house.

Greet my beloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia[a] to Christ. 6 Greet Mary, who labored much for us. 7 Greet Andronicus and Junia, my countrymen and my fellow prisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.
8 Greet Amplias, my beloved in the Lord. 9 Greet Urbanus, our fellow worker in Christ, and Stachys, my beloved. 10 Greet Apelles, approved in Christ. Greet those who are of the household of Aristobulus. 11 Greet Herodion, my countryman. Greet those who are of the household of Narcissus who are in the Lord.

12 Greet Tryphena and Tryphosa, who have labored in the Lord. Greet the beloved Persis, who labored much in the Lord. 13 Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother and mine. 14 Greet Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermas, Patrobas, Hermes, and the brethren who are with them. 15 Greet Philologus and Julia, Nereus and his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints who are with them.

16 Greet one another with a holy kiss. The churches of Christ greet you. (Romans 16:5-16, NKJV)

Because they are members of the body of Christ:

5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. (Romans 12:5, NKJV)

which is the Church of Christ:

18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. (Colossians 1:18, NKJV)

see also The Name of the Church

To make it clear, Christians are members of the Church of Christ. Not just any churches but the Church of Christ.

Are those who surrender to the will of God, Christians?

Before we answer the question, let us first know what the will of God is?

9 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, 10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. (Ephesians 1:9-10, NKJV)

The will of God is to gather together in one all things in Christ. How could all things be gathered in one in Christ?

5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. (Romans 12:5, NKJV)

By becoming members of one body in Christ. And the said body of Christ is the Church.

18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. (Colossians 1:18, NKJV)

And I want to make it clear, that it is not just any churches out there (see Not all Churches are of Christ ), but the church built by Christ.

18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. (Matthew 16:18, NKJV)

In other words, those who surrender to the will of God are those who become members of the Church of Christ. And we already learned that those who are members of the Church of Christ are called Christians, therefore, those those who surrender to the will of God are really Christians.

Finally, we’ll make it more clearer. What Christians Means? According to the above post, Christians are members of the Church of Christ.
