The Da Vinci Code movie has finally lined up by movie-goers as the MTRCB finally released thier decision giving the movie the R-18 rating.
The leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name of Every Name, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy (claiming to be the “Son of God) encouraged his followers all over the world to watch the controversial Da Vinci Code movie, saying that this movie is the test to ones faith.
Pastor Apollo Quiboloy of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ the Name Above Every name even confidently encouraged his followers all over the world to go to the theaters and watch the film as he smirked at those who are opposed to the showing of the film and tagged them as being weak of faith and religiously insecure. On the other hand, the Catholic Church, one of the churches teaching different Christ than the Christ in the Bible call believers to boycott the movie.
The Chinese Catholic church is considering calling on all believers to boycott “The Da Vinci Code.” It accuses the Hollywood movie of violating religious ethics and morals, and insulting the feelings of the clergy and followers. (source)
Even the City Government of Manila banned the movie.
MOVIEGOERS in Manila may have to go to neighboring cities to watch “The Da Vinci Code” after the city council yesterday passed a resolution prohibiting the showing of the controversial movie.
The resolution said the movie, which was based on US author Dan Brown’s explosive novel, “is undoubtedly offensive and contrary to established religious beliefs which cannot take precedence over the right of the persons involved in the film to freedom of expression.” (source)
And those who will defy the ban will be jailed for 1 year and will pay PhP5,000.00, especially those who are selling pirated DVDs or VCDs.
According to Valeriano, cinema owners in Manila who defy the ban face a one-year jail term and a P5,000 fine. Those caught selling pirated DVDs or VCDs of the movie could be jailed for up to six months and fined P3,000, he added. (ibid)
