Since last year, I am already wondering what regions are fans of Nokia and Motorola phones. I tried to search the web for the researches or papers published but Google and Yahoo couldn’t give me the exact information I am looking for.

Now that Google Trends is already available, it became easy for me to find how things are going within the area.

For example, I want to know what country or region have more Nokia or Motorola users. Of course with the Google Trends, we couldn’t find the exact value on what I want to know. However, we can assume that the number of searches on term Nokia or Motorola is proportional to the number of users of that certain brand of phone. As the trend shown by the Google Trends goes higher, then probably, the number of users of that certain brand is higher too.

Now, let’s look at the trend of Nokia, as shown on the image below:

See, Indonesia, Ukraine and Philippines are the top three countries on this trend search. How true is it? Well, I personally observed that Pinoys are really fans of Nokia. For them, Nokia Phones are more users friendly than those of Sony Ericsson, Motorola and other brands. The design of the Nokia phones are considered better for Pinoys than those of the other brands.

And how about the trend of Motorola?

Based on the graph above, Motorola has more users in Argentina. Philippines is not listed on this result.

In other words, if I will target Argentina’s people to be my visitors for this site, then I will make sure that everyday I can post articles about Motorola. But I think, I can gain more traffic if I will use the keyword Nokia because based on the graph, there would be more searches done for Nokia keyword than for the Motorola.

Anyway, this was just my assumptions.
