Jonathan Hassell of the Computer World wrote a tip on preventing spoofing. It is necessary for us to learn what is spoofing and how it is done, because knowledge on it will lead us to prevent our system from this kind of attack.
Accoridng to him, spoofing is a slang term of fooling, and there are many types of this attack:
There are several different types of spoofing that occur, but most relevant to networking is the Internet Protocol (IP) spoof. Most types of spoofing have a common theme: a nefarious user transmits packets with an IP address indicating that the packets are originating from another, trusted machine.
