Lot of people do not hesitate to eat food with blood mixed into it. Some Filipino prepare blood barbi-q or Puto-with blood, or delicious dinuguan recipes.

However, is the blood given by God to man as food? Did God permit us to eat blood or food with blood mixed with it? Now, let us asked God if blood is among the food He gave us for us to eat:

3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs. 4 But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. (Genesis 9:3-4, NKJV)

From that quoted verse, it is clear that God forbid us to eat flesh with its life. The life mention here is blood. In other words, we should not eat food mixed with blood. The only food that God gave us are those living creatures’ flesh but not blood.

Some of you might argue that this pronouncement of God is for the old testament people and we as part of the new testament are not bound by this. How true is it?

25 But concerning the Gentiles who believe, we have written and decided that they should observe no such thing, except [a] that they should keep themselves from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality.” (acts 21:25, ibid)

Gentiles who became part of the Church of Christ is already part of the Christian era or the new testament time. However, they are adviced not to eat blood.

In other words, it is not true that we are already allowed to eat food with blood. The true members of the true Church of Christ are forbidden to eat food with blood on it.
