Not all Filipino got the chance to watch the live feed of the Mano-a-Mano or the Philippine vs Mexican boxing bout which featured Manny Pacquiao vs Chololo Larios fight. Even I almost missed the fight. It was my uncle who brought me into their house for the live show hooked by the cable operator in Malitbog, So. Leyte through the ABS-CBN coverage.

In a certain place here in the Philippines, ROB set-up a television connected from the pa-per-view promo of their cable operator for them (his family and neighbors) to watch the fight live.

8 o’clock, Sunday morning, July 2, 2006. People in the neighborhood gather round in one place where they set-up for the public live telecast viewing over pay per view channel on cable tv, I am not sure if that kind of idea is legal but, we do that set-up everytime there is Manny Pacquiao’s battle. Even the dying elder Filipino wasn’t hindered in watching the fight and cheered Pacquiao as he victoriously battered Larios in that event. And then after celebrating the victory of our hero, the 70+ years old mayor silently took his last breath.

HINOBAAN Mayor Francisco Bilbao cheered for Manny Pacquiao when the Filipino champ won over Mexican boxer Oscar Larios Sunday. …. Though he was suffering from a lingering illness for more than eight months, he was a picture of delight when watching Pacquiao strut his stuff over Larios. (source)

However, those who didn’t witness the fight through the live coverage, they still watched Pacquiao through the late broadcast of ABS-CBN’s Channels, which led all Pinoy intact inside their homes and left the highways empty.

Papuntang Maynila kinabukasan, Linggo. Ang bilis namin nakababa papuntang Maynila. Laban kasi ni Manny Pacquiao at Larios sa Araneta. Wala masyadong bumiyahe. (source)

As Manny held up his WBC Belt, nothing we did but to shout:

And sent Pacquiao our message through our heart’s energy by saying:
