Before Romeo and Juliet and Chunhyang, there was Seo Dong and Seon Hwa. The fated love between Princess Seon Hwa of the Shilla kingdom and Seo Dong, the future King Mu of the Baekje kingdom, is a classic tale set in Shakespearean lore. It is immortalized in Seo Dong Yo, or “The Ballad of Seo Dong”, an old Korean folk song that spread quickly through the palace and the country during the Shilla period. This age-old story now receives new life under Lee Byung Hoon, the man behind masterpieces like Dae Jang Geum and Hur Jun. With stars Jo Hyun Jae (Love Letter) and Lee Bo Young (Mr. Good-bye) on board, Seo Dong Yo promises to be as innovative and engaging as Lee’s previous historical dramas.

The 7-disc Volume 1 set features the first 21 episodes of Seo Dong Yo, which detail Seo Dong’s childhood, his first meeting with Seon Hwa, and his maturation at Taehaksa.

ORIGINAL SOUND TRACK (OST):�

Now the accompanying soundtrack whose release date had to be delayed is finally available. The music director Yim Jae Hyeon who was earlier responsible for the sound scores of Dae Jang Geum, Hur Jun and Sang Do took care of it. For his 4th soundtrack Yim has combined western and eastern instruments played by a gigantic first class orchestra to create fusion melodies with rock and oriental as well as other flavors. The theme song (Track on this overall 17-track long original soundtrack was provided by Position’s Yim Jae Wook. Featuring a broad variety of music elements that includes Tibetan folk music, this promising new drama score production takes the listener on a harmonious sound trip!
