Almost Got Tricked By Phishers

I received an email from PayPal Security Service with subject, “Notification of Limited Access”. And told me:

It has come to our attention that your PayPalŪ account information needs to be  updated as part of our continuing commitment to protect your account and to reduce the instance of fraud on our website.  If you could please take 5-10 minutes  out of your online experience and update your personal records you will not run into any future problems with the online service.

However, failure to update your records will result in account suspension. Please update your records on or before December 06, 2006.

Once you have updated your account records, your PayPalŪ session will not be interrupted and will continue as normal.

To update your PayPalŪ records click on the following link:

I thought this message is genuine since I have an account with PayPal which is not verified until now. So, I clicked the link given by that email and filled-up the form. I almost click the send button when Firefox warned me that the page was reported as a web forgery. So, I immediately checked again the email message and found out that the linked URL is not the URL given on the email.

FireFox on Paypal

Thank’s to Firefox for the warning and for reminding me a great lesson in dealing with email messages and links from them. If not, my password will be sent to phishers and my paypal account will be compromised.
