Saved By Cellphone’s Ping

Up to this time, the CNET Editor, James Kim is still missing, and rescuers are still doing their best searching for the lost Kim in Oregon and will not stop searching until James Kim will be found.

But, did you know that the Kim’s wife and daughters were rescued with the help of James Kim’s cellphone pings?

Authorities conducting the search said at a news conference Monday that a signal sent from the Kims’ mobile phone to a tower in the region was key to locating the family. (source)

This incident reminds me those who were burried in Guinsaugon, St. Bernard, Southern Leyte, who (according to some of their relatives) sent text messages telling them (relatives) that they (victims) were still alive and were trapped in a class room. If rescuers had the technology to locate the exact location of those victims trapped in a class room through the signal of the cellphones, I think the victims could be saved in time, just like what happened to Kim’s family.
