No Regret – Korean Movie

No RegretBeautiful, daring, and haunting, No Regret represents a breakthrough for both Korean queer cinema and independent filmmaking. Opening in only nine theaters, the gay-themed film not only garnered great reviews, it also managed to attract 40,000 moviegoers, setting a new box office record for an indie film. No Regret is the debut feature from Lee Song Hee Il, Korea’s first openly gay filmmaker. Lee Song has long been a familiar name in the festival circuit, having directed the acclaimed short films “Sugar Hill”, “Good Romance”, and “La Traviata”, which was a part of the omnibus Camellia Project – Three Queer Stories at Bogil Island. In No Regret, he continues to delicately explore universal themes of love and sexuality set against uncommon relationships.

No Regret presents complex, well-rounded characters that do not occupy convenient stereotypes. Lee Young Hoon, who starred in Lee Song’s “Good Romance”, gives a stirring performance opposite Lee Han, who also appeared in last year’s award-winning indie film Don’t Look Back. The two young actors portray men of vastly different backgrounds, and the film subtly brings out issues of class structure, sexual orientation, and gay culture with both gravitas and good humor. The story is anything but predictable, capturing both the beauty and sorrow of love, heartache, and a life lived with No Regret.

Turning 18 years of age, Su Min (Lee Young Hoon) leaves his orphanage and moves to Seoul, working various jobs to save up money for university. After losing his job at the factory, Su Min ends up working as a male escort at a gay bar. Already close to hitting rock bottom, Su Min’s life gets both more chaotic and more meaningful when Jae Min (Lee Han) walks into his life. Coming from a wealthy, conservative background, Jae Min keeps his sexual orientation hidden from his family. Although he is already engaged, Jae Min is willing to give up everything to be with Su Min, and the two fall into a passionate relationship. But when the realities of life catch up, love may not be enough.

How the Lack of Love Affects Two Men – Korean Movie

How the Lack of Love Affects Two MenHow does lack of love affect two men? Try living for years without a woman! This is what happens to daddy Cheol Dong (Baek Yoon Shik of Like a Virgin) and son Dong Hyun (Bong Tae Gyu of Family Ties). After his wife died, Cheol Dong spent all his time dealing with the younger version of his crazy self and putting food on the table in ways you wouldn’t exactly call ordinary (is the toilet paper not as long as noted in the package? Let’s sue the company that makes it!). All is well under the sun until the divorced and very attractive Mimi walks in, rents a room in the basement, and sends father and son into a battle to get the girl.

With an incredibly wacky title and the ad-lib prowess of its leads, How the Lack of Love Affects Two Men is the first feature film from Kim Sung Hoon, who was an assistant director for Jang Na Ra’s debut Oh! Happy Day and He Was Cool. This time, instead of banking on loaded plots or internet novels, Kim passed the ball to Bong and especially Baek, who’s become a master at these kind of unique roles, and it is their spot-on partnership that drives this hilarious slapstick comedy.

Tech Big Men Hitting Each Other Big Names

I noticed that this week is the week for the Tech’s big men fighting each others through blogs. First, Scoble was saying something against the Engadget just for a rejected link request. Then an Engadget guy answered back professionally.

And now, it’s Jeremy Zawodny calling the well known White hat SEO Andy Beal, a spammer. And Andy Beal said back to Jeremy indirectly calling him an idiot (that’s my opinion).

Jeremy, do you even know the difference between spam and marketing?

Jeremy obviously has no idea of the amount of spam that is already going on at MyBlogLog – have you read the comments and messages people leave each other Jeremy? Here I am, encouraging people to join the Marketing Pilgrim MyBlogLog community – something I did before it took off and before Yahoo acquired it – and he accuses me of spamming. Just because my community profile – not my personal profile which is the one that shows up on other sites – happens to promote the contest.

Jeremy, get a damn clue. I’ve been working to help MyBlogLog flourish and here you are making lame public statements.

So, that how these big guys fight each other.

Hey DAVE! What’s DAVE?

I remember my previous boardmate who once told me that passing the Electrical Engineer Licensure Examination is not by intelligence but by wiseness. And that was Engr. Dave Pinote.

But did you know that Seagate unveils their new product called DAVE?

Why talk about Seagate products? Well, I was just fascinated by this new thing by Seagate. Just to make it clear, Seagate is not my sponsor and they’re not paying me to write this post, just like what Scobble did.

DAVE actually stands for Digital Audio Video Experience, a 20GB harddrive of Seagate which is built with Bluetooth and Wifi Technologies. It’s a better device compared to my 2GB Flash drive, because DAVE let’s us transfer files to and from another devices without the need of PC.

This new gadget is not yet released to the market. I am still wondering when will it be released in the Philippines Market. I think I really need it.

For more info, read the Press Release.

Google Bomb: What is it?

You might wonder what is Google bomb. It’s not actually a bomb that explodes and distroy everything, but it’s the term use to refer an attempt to influence the ranking of a particular site in Google SERP.

Le’s take this blog as an example on this.

If you will search “selaplana” using the Google Search Engine, you’ll find that this blog is on the top 1 rank. How did I do that? Well, I need to apply Google Bombing just to win the ranking battle for the keyword, “selaplana”.

I know some of you knew already that I was previously managing a personal network of blogs which I called it the “Ka Webspy Network“. With the blogs on this network, I published links to this blog using the term “SELaplana” as its anchor. So, as Google followed this links from this netwok, Google realized that the term “SELaplana” refers to this blog. So, whenever someone searches “selaplana” on Google Search engines, Google ranks this blog on the top 1 position.

Update:

I realized that the example I mentioned above is not actually for the Google bomb. However, Google Bombing is done by the same procedure.

Google bomb, according to Google’s blogrefers to a prank where people attempt to cause someone else’s site to rank for an obscure or meaningless query. For example, if we want to rank this blog on the top position of the Google SERP with the keyword “dumb Southern Leyte blogger“, what we will do is to create links from other sites to this blog using “dumb Southern Leyte blogger” as the anchor texts. If Google search bot finds many link to this blog using that achor texts then this blog might be ranked top 1 on the Google SERP when searching for “dumb Southern Leyte blogger“.

Adsense With Other Contextual Ads

It was reported by Jensense that Adsense can now be published along with other contextual ads. It’s official already according to Jensense.

I spoke with Brian Axe, senior product manager on the Google AdSense Team on the issue. “As you and others have noticed, the AdSense Terms and Conditions haven’t been updated since 2005, and we’re working on an update to the Terms to bring everything into line. Traditionally, we don’t update the Terms as frequently, since all publishers must re-agree to the Terms whenever they change.”

“When it comes to enforcing policies on third-party contextual ads, we’ll be following the updated program policies instead of the T&Cs on this point. That is to say, publishers may now display other contextual ads on the same site or page as Google ads as long as they don’t have the same look and feel as our ads,” Brian Axe tells Jennifer Slegg of JenSense.

Okay so, that’s according to Jensense. But when I checked the Program Policies, and Terms and conditions, still I couldn’t say so. It just made me more confused.

Anyway, I was given permission by the Adsense Team to use the contextual ads of Amazon since then. I think, that’s what it means… The contextual ads that can be published with the Adsense are those that doesn’t mimic Adsense Ads. Ads from Amazon is very much different from Adsense.

YouTube will Pay YouTubers

I think, all YouTubers including me should thanks Google for giving us the chance to earn from the video clips we uploaded to YouTube.

Actually, it was still a plan but the founder of the YouTube confirm it according to the report.

YouTube founder Chad Hurley confirmed to the BBC that his team was working on a revenue-sharing mechanism that would “reward creativity”.

The system would be rolled out in a couple of months, he said, and use a mixture of adverts, including short clips shown ahead of the actual film.

And it was even made clear that only those YouTubers who have the copyright of the video can avail this opportunity.

The offer applies only to people who own the full copyright of the videos that they are uploading to the YouTube website.

So, I think, I am qualified for this. Remember that I uploaded several amateur video that I created and they earn enougn traffic which I think enough to earn cents. And I am now inspired to make more video for the YouTube.
