I noticed that what ever Jobs did, it’s always buzzing around the net. I first noticed him (although they said that Steve Jobs is already popular before I noticed him) when he published a long open letter about DRM. And now, here’s Jobs again on his attacks against the teachers union.

I believe that what is wrong with our schools in this nation is that they have become unionized in the worst possible way. This unionization and lifetime employment of K-12 teachers is off-the-charts crazy.

Of course I don’t understand why Steve Jobs attacked the teachers union (because I am not like Jobs and not even those teachers…. because I am a Filipino who live here in the Philippines). But Robert Scoble explained:

The problem is that the political system here won’t allow politicians to increase taxes to pay for higher school wages and the unions won’t allow reforms to get rid of bad teachers. Instead we get stupid patches to the system like the “no child left behind” initiative which tries to improve results by mandating tests (most teachers I talk with say that initiative is a disaster)

Well, I think Jobs got the point. Bad teachers hinder the progress of the educational system of the schools. And this union is the one protecting them from firing them from teaching. As CEO he knows much in managing people for the growth of his company and that was one of the problems that he noticed in schools.

In short, Steve Jobs message is simple: If they want their schools to become better, then they must reject union.

However, Steve Jobs actually was not just attacking the teachers union, but including the textbooks. Steve Jobs promoted the new and high-tech textbooks… that is the online and frequenlty update resources like the Wikipedia which is also one of the sites that Senator “Tubes” wanted to be closed.

Just wondering if Steve Jobs donated to the Wikipedia….
