Matt of Wordpress revealed that Wordpress.Com hosted blogs can now have the javascript button of Digg by just adding the code “[digg=http://digg.com/url_to/story_on_digg]” (without quotes) directly into the post.
To add this to your post, just put in [digg=http://digg.com/url_to/story_on_digg] and it’ll be transformed into a “Digg This” button. (Your story must already be submitted to Digg for this to work.) I’ve added a Digg This button to the right for this very post you’re reading, why not try voting on it to test things out?
For clearer instruction, Wordpress post the info here.
And to those wondering what plugin should we use for a Wordpress-driven blog hosted by other webhosts, you can choose from these plugins:
- Digg Button - Digg Button will let you use the Digg API anywhere in your WordPress post. All you have to do is enter in a snippet of code and the URL of the Digg article in order to display the yellow “Digg It” button.
- Digg This - Digg this wordpress plugin is a plugin that detects incoming links from Digg.com to your wordpress post and automaticaly display a digg vote box or a link back to the digg post, for people to digg your story.
- Digg This Reloaded - Like the old plugin, buts adds HEAPS more features and an admin options panel! Has options to show submit to digg plugin if post hasn’t been dugg, otherwise show a normal digg it button. Requires no template modifications! This is a must for any blogger.
- DiggClick - Have you ever seen a small Digg It button that users place somewhere at their post pages, hoping that someone will submit their posts to Digg?. The DiggClick is a WordPress plugin that not only displays such a button on your selected posts and pages to let you and your visitors submit it to Digg. It also detects your posts that have been already submitted to Digg and displays a button showing how many Diggs you have. The DiggClick is extremely easy to install and configure from your WordPress administration panel. The plugin is also compatible with Digg This by Aviran Mordo and Digg Button by Ryan Wanger. So if you have ever previously used one of those, your Digg counts wont vanish when you switch to the DiggClick.
So, try it now and feel the hotness of the Digg-Effect.
