Sponsored Posts, Blogosphere Pollution?
It is true that lot of bloggers now are accepting sponsors on posts the made to their blogs as they are members of ReviewMe, PayPerPost or the likes., just like what has been said at LA Times article:
Thousands of bloggers are writing sponsored posts touting such diverse topics as diamonds, digital cameras and drug clinics. The bloggers are spurred by new marketing middlemen such as PayPerPost Inc. that connect advertisers with mom-and-pop webmasters.
But I don’t agree with what they said that this kind of activity is just a polution to the blogosphere.
Some of their fellow bloggers are critical, saying the industry is polluting the blog world and misleading consumers by blurring the line between advertising and unbiased opinion.
It might be true that some of the (sponsored posts) agents (like PayPerPost or Blogitive) give some requirements on what the blogger should write on the sponsored blogposts, but then not all of these agents are doing the same, like ReviewMe. A lot of sponsored reviews or post I have seen on the blogosphere which talk not only the positive sides of the products, services, or sites being reviewed but they’re also talking about the negative sides of those. The BlogToProfit is also offering sponsors for blogposts but the bloggers are free what to say on the sponsored posts they’re writing as long as there’s a link to the sponsor which is published within the content of the post (just take a look at my posts).
So, what ever the Journalists say about it, I will continue accepting sponsors for particular posts (as in Sponsored Posts).
