Finally Infoworld confirms the rumors that they’ll close their print version and will focus to online and events:
Yes, the rumors are true. As of today, March 26, 2007, InfoWorld is discontinuing its print component. No more printing on dead trees, no more glossy covers, no more supporting the US Post Office in its rush to get thousands of inky copies on subscribers desks by Monday morning (or thereabouts). The issue that many of you will receive in your physical mailbox this week — vol. 29, issue 13 — will be the last one in InfoWorlds storied 29-year history.
Shifting from print to web version doesn’t mean their dead already according to the PR. They’re only embracing the more efficient delivery mechanism as their way of preparing for the coming day of the demise of the print.
They’re saying about the demise of the print. According to the PR, it’s what their members saw in the coming days. But the question is: Does it mean the whole print world will experience the end of existence? Maybe this is what they mean because they are wishing that other print companies will follow what they did.
So, is it also the reason why Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI) is now serious in the online version of their newspaper?
