Based on the recent ICANN board votation regarding the .xxx domains, it seems that there’s no way we can segregate adult sites with the .xxx domains. ICANN finally rejected the proposal that all adult sites must bear the .xxx domain.

An Internet governing body on Friday rejected a proposal to create a unique set of Web addresses for adult entertainment Web sites. … The decision sends the broader message that the governing body, known as ICANN, refuses to assume a new role as regulator of content found on the Internet, say ICANN executives.  (source)

I am actually in favor to the proposal because we can easily blocked those sites from our PC’s as to protect our children from accessing them.

It is a good idea but there are to many kinks that would have to be worked out, and by doing that it would only cause a bigger problem. The main thing would be having to classify what is porn. Some people view the sport illustrated swimsuit issue as porn. So that would cause a uproar with a lot of organizations. The other would be the cost that it would add to existing web sites to change. I think they require new websites to use the xxx domain though. Nice article and nice blog here

You got the points on rejecting the .xxx domains. Anyway, ICANN knows much about it.

    thanks for dropping by.
