It’s April 1. Lot of bloggers are making fun by fooling us all.

Yesterday, I commented on the news about the wireless charger which converts radio frequencies to DC electricity. Although this kind of technology can be true, but lot of the bloggers consider this news as part of the April 1 Fool.

Now, Techcrunch posted similar kind of blogpost but it’s not about any invented device but about acquiring the fuckedcompany.

Tomorrow we will announce that we have acquired Philip “Pud” Kaplan’s FuckedCompany.com in a stock for assets transaction. The basic details of the transaction are included in a press release that will go out around 9 pm PST tonight, and Pud has also mentioned this on his personal blog. We weren’t going to announce this for another week or so (even though I hinted at it on CrunchNotes), but too many people know about it already and news of it was starting to leak (see Wired and CNET as well). I don’t want to be in a position again where other sites are breaking our news, so we’re announcing officially this weekend.

Mike Arrington, of course, didn’t say that it’s just a joke but he clearly said, “Tomorrow we will announce that…”. The blogpost was posted according to the blog, yesterday, March 31, 2007. When he said, “Tomorrow”, really means April 1. And we all know what April 1 is… So, I can say, this news is just part of the April 1 Fool.

Okay, what are the lessons we get from these posts?

I realized that posting blogposts according to the calendar is really a good linkbait.

Why?

Well, just take a look at the comments posted on that joke post. As of the time of posting it, there are already 150 comments posted including the trackbacks.

Which means, if you are really good in writing a post like this, you might be harvesting hundreds if not thousands of backlinks from other bloggers being fooled by your post and from bloggers who almost fooled by it. And with this, your Technorati rank might jumped from thousandth to tenth rank.
