If Microsoft has TellMe, Google Offers Google411

When Microsoft acquired the TellMe (Web Search Technology through Voice), everybody were expecting that Yahoo! or Google will do something in reponse to this.

Today, it was confirmed that Google is really working to compete with Microsoft’s Search technology using voice. Google calls it “Google 411″ or “Google Voice Local Search”.

1. What is Google Voice Local Search?

It is an experiment on Google Labs that offers free 411-like service.
With Google Voice Local Search, you get fully-automated, fast access to same local-business information you would find on Google.com. But you can access it from any phone, anywhere, at anytime.

2. How much does it cost?

It’s free. Google doesn’t charge you for the information or for connecting you to the business. Keep in mind, though, that your telephone company may apply regular charges for making a phone call or receiving an SMS. (source)

I want to try it, but it seems expensive. Google serves it for free but phone companies will be charging me international charges when making SMS or Phonecalls.
