John Chow’s Review-Me challenge is really effective linkbait. Most of the bloggers who know John Chow are encouraged to do the same scheme in promoting their own blogs. I am actually thinking of launching similar way of blog promotion and I am still formulating the rules for it to effectively and positively affects my blog’s ranking and popularity. On the other hand, Tyler Cruz launched already his and is now already on his batch 7 of backlinks to reviewers.
About Tyler Cruz blog:
Okay, let’s accept his call to review his blog in exchange of backlink.
Tyler Cruz is a netrepreneur and his blog is about his journey on the internet to wealth. I think, like me, his a full time blogger blogging about anything from making money online to techno stories and personal thingy.
Currently, he’s climbing up to have 500 feed subscribers and his Technorati ranking is still on its move up. So, we’re sure that the traffic and ranking of this blog is still not stable due to this review-me challenge.
Its Blog Design?
Well, he got a simple and clean design. But I think it’s not good for his blog to post the TextLinkAds on the Left-Side bar of the blog because usually the Left-Side bar is downloaded next to the header and the first one than the blogpost. What I mean is, it should be better if the blogposts are downloaded first but next to the header than the sidebars.
Why I said so? Remember that Search Engines give more weights to the first hundreds words of your blog. Of course this fact is not according to the Search Engines Engineers. This is according to my observation. Why?
Okay, I can explain this by giving you examples:
Now, consider the Google Site Search Result when searching the pages of this blog. The screenshot of it is shown below:
According to the SERP, there are 3,720 pages of this blog which are indexed by the Google Search Engine. Now, consider the Google Site-Search Result of my Songs Lyrics blog which is shown below:
And according to the SERP, there is only one page found (but actually this blog contains thousands of pages). Now, why is Google said so? Because most of the pages of this blog are considered by Google as duplicates.
Why did Google consider the pages of the Songs Lyrics blog as duplicates while the pages of this blog (the first blog we did a site-search) is not, when in fact they are all using one theme?
Okay, it’s true that the theme they’re using are the same. What makes the pages of the Songs Lyrics blog similar (or considered as duplicates) is because of the Menu (Alphabetical Menu) posted in between the header and the main content.
Back to Tyler’s Blog:
Now, since Tyler posted the TextLinkAds on the left-sidebar, it means that these textlinkads are downloaded first and therefore will be given higher weights than those links to the other pages of the blog which are posted on the right side bar.
Anyway, it’s advantageous to the Advertisers of that TextLinkAds, which means, they might renew their textlinkads on your blog every month. However, I am also thinking that it’s unfair to the links to other pages of that blog.
