Using twitter is just like blogging. Well, they call Twittering as micro-blogging. You’re posting some info about the things you’re doing into the uncensored system where everybody can read.
Let’s consider what Steve did on his twitter account. Steve said that he’s:
I don’t read the hard copy of PC Magazine and that my free subscription goes in the trash.
Steve who is a Senior Vice President of Edelman shouldn’t said that in public because his employeer is the one pitching companies to the PC Mag. The PC Mag Editor-in-Chief responded to Boycott Steve’s employeer. … Too bad!
Steve can do nothing if the Boycott will be imposed but just to say sorry for what he did.
So what’s the lesson for bloggers from Steve’s TwittExperience?
- Always think about what you are writing before clicking the PUBLISH button.
- After publishing blogposts, read them again, and again, and again, and edit them if necessary.
- Don’t ever say something that might offend someone, some groups or companies when your intention is not to offend them.
- If you’re exposing someone’s (illegal) work, you must be ready to face the lawsuit against you.
