yes, you should set the margins of every blocks.

however, i have suggestions regarding your theme. you can also changed nothing on your theme structures or positioning. what you need to do is make sure that the content of your left sidebar are those who are easily be downloaded. Place all those stuffs that spend much time when downloaded to the right sidebar.

by the way, i used float in my sidebars and content:
left-sidebar {
float:left;
}
main {
float:left;
}
right-sidebar {
float:right;
}
separating the left sidebar from the main and right sidebar would require margin on the css. any suggestions?
