This time, I am giving away my $100 worth of review for free to Lestat_M, the blogger behind the OFW Life blog, whom I promised a review.

Why? Why am I doing a review without letting them pay me the price set by ReviewMe which is $100 per review?

If the main reason why I blog is to enhance my writing skills, the very reason why I am doing this too is to enhance my reviewing skills. I really want to become a Filipino John Chow who is the advertisers’ favorite ReviewMe publisher. And doing this is the only way I know to gain the skill I want to have.

Okay let’s start the real review.

Blog Design and Part’s Placement:

Actually, I don’t have any complaint about the design of the blog. You have choosen one of the best available Wordpress theme which is design by tech savvy people.

However, I want to let you know that I really hate to see an Adsense Ads place at the top most portion of the page. I know, it’s one of the hotspots for ads but it annoys me. How about positioning that ad as shown on the image below:

The blog’s header contains only the Logo of the blog and nothing else. I think, it will be better if that 468×60 banner of Xoom will be place on the vacant area of Header. To understand what I mean, just take a look at the sketch below:

Now, if you will really do what I suggest, then you should transfer the Adsense Adlink too to the right sidebar. Consider arranging the right sidebar just like what is shown below, because the Adsense Link looks like a regular navigation menus so it suit here.

Now, why did I suggest to place the Feed Icon on top of the other sidebar stuffs? Just want you to take note that I am not saying feed icons but feed icon. I am actually referring to the icon like the one below:

This is to promote your feed and gain more feed subsciption. Remember that feed subscription is one of the basis in ranking your blog.

Now, what’s next?

Well, I want to tell you that I feel annoyed with that “previous post” things. It’s okay to place that “previous post” list at the top most of the content part when viewing the homepage and archived pages. But it’s an annoying thing when you view the itempage and that “previous post” list showed first.

Consider this placement of your content block when viewing the itempage:

Last words

Obviously, the blog is just a new one. It only started last March 2007. However, it’s still not too late to start a blog like this.

And I think, it will be interesting if you can post some photo you took from places you passed by. Remember that your topic is OFW Life, so posting some interesting places abroad is still bound by your topic. You can even post your experiences while dealing your job and your fellow workers , and your observations of what your fellow OFW did.
