Some of you wonder why I choose to spend my time blogging than working for a company. You might be thinking also that the real reason why I blog is because of money or because I couldn’t find any job out there.

Well, I was already telling you on my old posts, that the real reason why I blog is because I want to enhance my writing skills. I really forced my self to write blogposts regularly because I believed that “constant practice really makes you perfect.”

However, the time came that I started to love what I am doing. I was not inspired to blog by the money that I might get from it because I didn’t know yet at that time (2003 when I started blogging) that I can earn much from blogging. The only thing that inspired me to blog is my love for it.

Soon as I learned that Google offered a chance for small bloggers like me to earn Dollars from blogs, I immediately tried it. But the way I blog remains the same, that is, I blog because I love to do it.

John Chow is Right

If you happen to drop by John Chow‘s blog and scanned his old posts, you might find John Chow’s teaching that “People who blog for money seldom succeed.”

Well, John Chow said that because he witnessed and proved that those who blog just because they want to earn money really failed. And I can attest that what he said is right based on my blogging experience.

There was a time that I was tempted to create blogs just to earn money. These blogs are not really blogs in the sense that I was just posting some copied articles from other websites. One of you is right; I am a copy-and-paste maniac.

Well, some of these blogs still exist but the only one remains alive is my Cellphones For Sale blog.

At first I thought I succeed on what I did, because the Cellphones For Sale blog brought me much money. I was earning from that blog alone $30 a day straight for one month, February 2006. But that only happened just for that month alone. I don’t know what the reason is. And after learning that this blog earned only cents a day on the next month, I lost the courage to update the blog and almost stop blogging for it.

I know, some of you experienced the same. Lot of people blog because they learned that lot of bloggers became rich by just blogging. But then soon as they realized that it’s not that easy to earn money from blogs, their courage to blog started to fade. Do they succeed? Of course didn’t.

SELaplana Blog’s Success

Now, take a look at this blog. I started blogging on this blog last March 2006. But I was not earning Dollars right away from this blog. And the truth is, I was spending much money just to make my blog like this.

To let you know, from March 2006 to December 2006, I was only earning more or less $150.00 a month not from this blog, but from my old blogs. And this earning was just spent for the updates and upgrades of this blog.

I started to earn Dollars on this blog, just this January 2007. It’s all thanks to my devotion and passion that I spent since March 2006 to December 2006. I was not expecting that this blog will became one of my sources of my income, but it happens.

Currently, I am paying more or less PhP30,000.00 a year for the domain and hosting services, and I know it will be increased soon as the traffic of this blog increased too. But that amount won’t discourage me to blog on this. I am ready to spend much for this blog, because I already love it and I love blogging on it.
