Publishing 2.0 is now talking about the upcoming showdown of Wordpress and the newly released MT 4.0 (which will be released sooner for the open source community). And it seems that the showdown will be real by considering the MT’s declaration of its mission:
Today, we’re returning to the mission that started Movable Type in the first place, building a community that wants to make the best, most influential blogs in the world.
Wow! “Building a community that want to make the best…” This is actually what Wordpress has reached, and MT wanted to stole it from Wordpress again.
Anwyay, that glory was actually gained by Wordpress, just when most of the MT users and developers transfered to Wordpress due to the licensing issue:
Movable Type was once the darling of the blogosphere, especially from its original launch in 2001 to about 2004 (when licensing issues upset many bloggers). Since 2004/05, many bloggers have migrated to the open source Wordpress - and perhaps of more concern, a lot of third party developers transferred their efforts from MT to Wordpress. (source)
Okay whatever! Just want to tell you that even if the new MT will be the coolest blogging engine, I will not be shifting to that cool MT4. I started my blog using Wordpress then I will end it up like that.
Well, of course I can try the MT but not on this blog. Maybe I will create a new one just for the MT blogging engine.
By the way, tons of discussions raised on the blogosphere. I’ll just pick some: here, here, here, here
