Everybody knows that our blog’s visitors are the blood of our blog. Without visitors, our blog is dead. Even how frequently you make updates to your blog if no one reads your blog, and then everything is useless. That’s the main reason why we’re not just writing something into our blog, but also doing something to gain visitors for our blog.

Since the start of my blog, last March 2006, I already tried several ways of gaining visitors for the blog. Like:

1. Taking advantage of Popular Shows
2. Taking advantage of Popular Terms
3. Taking advantage of Users Favorite Songs
4. Participating hot talks on the Blogosphere

Taking Advantage of Popular Shows

We can immediately notice what shows are popular to our targeted visitors. If for example you want to gain more Philippine based visitors, then you must do some research on what shows do people watch.

Well, as of these days, we have Pinoy Big Brother of the ABS-CBN. And at the other station, there are also shows which are being watched by the majority of the Filipino.

So, to gain a percentage of visitors for your blog from those fans of those popular shows, what you need to do is to write blogposts about those shows regularly.

That was the reason why you’ll find some posts on my blog about Naruto, Naruto Shippuuden, Bleach Anime, Airgear and much more shows being talked on my old posts.

Taking Advantage of Popular Terms

There’s a lot places on the net where you can learn what terms are popular for certain time. We have the Google Zeitgeist, Yahoo! Popular Searched Terms, Technorati’s Top Words and others. They are all based on the numbers of users searching for those terms through the search engines.

So, if you will write something about those words, then you might steal a part of that traffic. And if you got the higher SERP when searching for those terms, more likely that you’ll gain higher percentage of visitors from those who are looking for those terms.

Taking advantage of Users Favorite Songs

On the early months of the existence of my blog, you’ll be amazed of the number of songs’ lyrics I posted. Well, that was just a way of gaining traffic for this blog, because I know, lot of internet users are looking for the lyrics of their favorite songs.

And sometimes in October 2006, my blog experienced downtimes due to bandwidth limit. Users looking for lyrics ate up all my blog’s bandwidth. In other words, republishing lyrics into our blog is really a traffic gainer.

Participating hot talks on the Blogosphere

On January 2007, I realized that participating on what the Blogosphere has been discussing is also a better way of gaining traffic for a blog. So, I immediately started to align my blog into the Techno-Story niche. Everyday, I search the Blogosphere, read the discussions and tried to identify what topic was hot for that day. And then, I immediately start collecting ideas from different bloggers. And finally, compose a blogpost with those ideas collected with links to the authors of those thoughts, and then include my own opinion on the issues.

Well, the traffic gained through this technique is not really huge compared to the traffic brought by the lyrics; however, this traffic is much better compared to those who are just looking for lyrics.

Better Content for Better Visitors, Great Content for Great Visitors

Since we already tried to align our blog into a better niche, then plugging up those unrelated contents to your niche is not really good. Yes, you gain traffic from those things, but you can’t build a better community from them, because the real product you wanted to promote to your visitors is different from the products that visitors are looking for.

Now let’s take my blog as an example.

Our blog today has the niche on Money. Or should I say, making money online. In other words, our product that we want to promote to our clients or customers (the readers) are articles or blogposts or knowledge related to Money.

But what if users looking for lyrics came into your money-related blog, what will happen? Well, most likely to happen is your visitor will leave immediately your blog and search again the internet for the real site related to what he’s looking for.

But of course, we can change the minds of those visitors who stumble upon your blog. They might not be looking for the articles about money or making money online, but then you can change their interest on the articles you’ve posted on your blog.

But how can you do that? Well, it’s simple! Write great content. Remember that you should write not just better content but great content for you to gain huge number of great visitors.

Of course, writing great articles is not really easy since you need to consider things like, spelling, grammar, they way you compose the ideas or present something. But, if you constantly tried to write a great content, maybe after a month, you’ll find it easy.

2. Tricks
3. Additional Information

Tips

You can write tips or how-to articles related to your niche. For example, if your niche is about Cell phones, then write some tips on how to make your cell phones better. Or you can write something that will teach your readers how to use or utilize things.

Tricks

Writing articles that teach your readers to do some tricks is actually similar to writing tips. The only difference is that, what you’re teaching them is not just a simple tip but tricks on how to achieve unexpected things. This is all about manipulating things for your advantage.

For example, you want to teach your visitors on how gain traffic easily for their own blogs. Then the trick on it is to apply the 4 ways I mentioned above.

Additional Information

Articles on additional information can be written by telling your visitors of some information related to your niche.

For example, your niche is about making money online. So, you can write a blogpost or article telling your visitors about some great sites you’ve found on the web which contains great contents that can help them learn much about making money online. Or you can talk about the news you’ve learned which are related to the niche of your blog.

Great Community, Great Money

So by working hard to fill your blog with great contents, I’m sure, you’ll gain huge number of great visitors. And the result is… you’re creating a great community.

And you already know that great community can be easily converted to great money.
