I was with an old friend from Surigao Del Sur the whole day today, talking about her life as she stay here in Cebu City when I received a text message from one of my blogging-recruits that asked me if blogging is for rich people only.  My answer to him will be the one that I want to share to you tonight.

Is Blogging For Rich People Only?

To let you know, I believe that blogging can really make you rich. But I don’t think that only those who are rich can blog.

It might be true that a blogger needs to spend money for internet access. But even poor ones can afford now to access the internet, because tons of internet cafes here in the Philippines offer affordable price per hour.

If we will back to the year 1995 wherein internet access was still at PhP80.00 per hour, then I think, you’re right, blogging is just for rich ones only. But now, you can access the internet for just PhP10.00 per hour in which even beggar can afford to pay for that.

Maybe you can consider me as an example. Do you think I am rich? No, I am not. Remember that I don’t have my own computer and internet access when I started blogging. I was just renting the computer from the internet cafe and sometimes I was just making use of the internet connection of the cafe where I was working before to update my blogs.

Good To Be Rich

However, I agree that it’s really good if you’re rich because you can do whatever you want to do to your blog. You can buy your own domain, pay for hosting services, pay for designer, or even pay for ghost blogger. And it is even true that most of the blogs that are owned by rich bloggers are very much pretty compared to the blogs of the poor ones like me.

However, it doesn’t mean that poor ones can’t blog and can’t even make their blog better than the blogs of those rich bloggers. You can really do everything even if you’re not rich like them, that is, if you have the faith.

Poor bloggers can blog better than the rich ones

Actually, everything depends on you… on your belief… on your interest… on your faith. If you believe that you can do whatever they can, then do it. Don’t just say you can… try to do it.

If you want to find some examples of those poor bloggers who blog better than those rich ones, then just open your eyes wide and point them to me and you’ll see that poor bloggers like you can be better than those rich ones.

What to do?

If you still don’t have your own computer and internet connection then rent computers from the internet cafe. I’m sure you can find a cafe that offers fast internet connection and better desktop computers.

But in order for you to save money from the computer rental, write first you draft into a scratch paper, reread it and check for errors and write the final copy. Type it if you’re already in the cafe using the MS Word or any document processor before copying it into your blog. The faster you type, the more time and money you save.

For now, blog on this way. Who knows you will earn much from blogging and can buy your own computer and acquire an internet connection. If blogging made me acquire PC, cellphones, Digital Camera and XRM Motorcycle, then blogging will do the same to you or better than what it did to me.
