The report about a 17-year old boy, George Hotz, who successfully unlocked the Apple’s current most obsessed gadget, the iPhone, will be good news to all users who want to own it and use it with any network providers.
George Hotz, 17, confirmed Friday that he had unlocked an iPhone and was using it on T-Mobile’s network, the only major U.S. carrier apart from San Antonio-based AT&T that is compatible with the iPhone’s cellular technology.
The modication requires skills but all iPhone features still work, except the Voice Mail.
On the other way, it’s really a bad news for the AT&T, the exclusive provider for the iPhone. And I’m wondering what will be the reaction of Apple on this. It seems that their locking technology can be easily modified even by a 17-year old kid.
