I recently participated the “Filipina Writing Contest” organized by my favorite “Sun-Star Cebu” columnist, Ms. Janette Toral at the W3O blog, without thinking that I can get anything from this contest.

Of course I know, that there are plenty of advantages if you participate writing contest like this, and Ms. Toral mentioned them already on his Reflective Thinking blog. And one of these advantages is your blog’s search engine’s visibility and to gain it, you must employ some trick as suggested by Ms. Toral:

• Highlight the word Filipina (you can also use phrases such as Filipina women, Filipina dating, Filipina hearts, Filipina singles) in your blog post and link it to your entry.
• If you have several blogs, link to your entry from the sidebar and/or make a blog post about it. Use the word Filipina (you can also use phrases such as Filipina women, Filipina dating, Filipina hearts, Filipina singles) and link that to your entry.
• Ask fellow bloggers to link or make a review of your entry.
• If you are using Google Reader, add it to your shared items.
• Share your entry in The Filipina Images, Yahoo MyWeb, Digg, StumbleUpon, Netscape, Del.icio.us, Facebook, Pinoyblogosphere, Noypi, among others.

The Result

Ms. Toral informed me yesterday that my blog’s entry to the Filipina writing contest has been ranked at the 2oth page of the Google SERP and MSN SERP when searching for the keyword “FILIPINA”. However, when I checked today, I found out that the said entry was already listed at the 11th page of the Google SERP as shown below:

Now, what if I will win the number 1 slot on the first page of the Google SERP when searching for FILIPINA? Well, that will be great. Another tons of traffic will be directed into this blog, in which part it might be turned into regular visitors or feed readers.
