Being the center of the talks by other bloggers is definitely a good technique in getting more traffic, readers, and backlinks. But it’s also the hardest thing to do since you need to be resourceful for you to come up and write articles that will lead your to controversy or become viral.

Ankesh Kothari of the “Blog Clout” wrote 4 ways how to let others talk about you at his article, “The Secret to Getting Others To Talk About You” which is posted at the NorthXEast blog. These 4 ways are:

(1) Do Something Worthy

This is actually the main reason why John Chow became more popular. John Chow did a lot of things in getting more traffic, getting more readers, earning more Dollars and even pushing his blog into the limits.

Creating a controversy. Yes! I’s one of the ways so that other will talk about you. The 13-year old kid blogger is quite successful on this.

(2) Convert Readers into Friends

By personalizing your own blogposts is one way of converting your readers into friends.

Yes! Your readers will know more about you if you often tell them about you. Then soon they will consider you as one of their friends. And these people who consider you as their friend will tell their friends about you.

(3) Create a Tool that can be used by other bloggers.

There’s no wonder why bloggers who create more WordPress Plugins and Themes are getting more traffic, readers, and backlinks. Just imagine if you created a theme that is used by thousands of bloggers.

(4) Reward those who talk about you

John Chow pioneered this technique. He gave links to bloggers who will review about him and his blog. And since lot of bloggers who are obsessed of backlinks, so lot of them wrote about John and his blog just for the reward links promised by John.
