Upgraded to WordPress v2.3.1

As of writing this post, our WordPress engine has just been upgraded to the latest version of the WordPress, the version 2.3.1.

What’s the WordPress 2.3.1?

According to the WordPress site, WordPress is our current stable release of the WordPress which means some bugs found with the WordPress 2.3 were fixed :

2.3.1 fixes over twenty bugs. Some of the notable fixes are:

  • Tagging support for Windows Live Writer
  • Fixes for a login bug that affected those with a Blog Address different than
    their WordPress Address
  • Faster taxonomy database queries, especially tag intersection queries
  • Link importer fixes

Now, I think you need to upgrade your WordPress 2.3 system too. Consider this:

Unfortunately, some security issues were found in 2.3. Janek Vind found an XSS problem that can be exploited if your php setup has register_globals enabled. For this reason, upgrading to 2.3.1 is advised.

Be Positive on the Negative Things They Throw at You

Would you ashame to send an email like this to someone?

Good Day!

I would like to you ask if you have any idea on when will be the release of the LET Result, because I have been waiting for two weeks but still the result is not visible in internet or even in newspaper. If ever that you found out that it is released please inform me ahead of time.

Thank YOu so much.

Well. I know some of you criticized the way this email was written. Some of you might say, “Ang Bobo mo naman!” But is he really an idiot? No. He just missed to check his email before he clicked the SEND button. I think, he’s even better than me.

Actually, I was really bad in grammar especially in the year 1999 when I started writing online journals. My readers at that time always laughed at me and even insulted me through the comments they posted on my site’s guestbook. But instead of being embarrassed on what they’re telling about me, I continued writing and even read articles and books about writing.

Maybe there are progress and development on my writings due to my constant writing since 1999 up to now. However, I am not still contented with it. Did you know that I took 10 minutes composing the title of this post?

My Answer at the Yahoo Answers!

A Yahoo Answer member asked this:

He was saying how I make my group at my table slow in other words he’s calling me stupid. I got really upset at him and started crying but not because i was mad but because that was the only thing stopping me from jumping across the table and strangling him. I ran out the room to cool of some steam so after 20 minutes i came back but thank God class was about to be over.

And my answer to this question was chosen as the best answer. My answer goes:

If they call you stupid, then don’t be mad with them nor be embarrassed with what they’re doing to you. The best thing that you should do is make it as lesson for you or an inspiration for you to study more.

To let you know, when I was in my Grade 1 here in the Philippines, my classmates used to call me stupid or whatever, but I didn’t let my self bothered by this. I focused on my study more and tried so much so that they’ll recognized me. And I succeeded on that because at the end of the school year, I was recognized as the First Honors in our class.

See! If they’re not calling me stupid, would I became First Honors?

Gain Traffic for Your Blog While Training Yourself To Blog

Did you know that you can drive traffic to your blog while you’re still training yourself to blog?

Yes! That’s true! And this can be done by utilizing the WordPress ability of publishing trackback.

Well. To understand how trackback works in driving traffic, please read my post, “Gain More Blog’s Traffic from Your Trackback“.

What should you do?

  1. Visit the Techmeme and notice that the titles of the articles posted in large letters are the titles of the articles being discussed in the blogosphere (highlighted in blue color as shown on screenshot below), while the titles listed on the DISCUSSION are the blogs discussing the articles (highlighted with red color as shown on the screenshot below).

    Techmeme

  2. Read the article being discussed.
  3. Open the blogs under the DISCUSSION and read their points.
  4. Write a blogpost for your blog about the discussed article, include some points made by the blogs under the DISCUSSION and then on the finale part of your post, write your comment about it. Note: When mentioning the points or ideas of the blogs on the DISCUSSION, make sure to establish a link to the source of that idea in order to establish trackback.

Okay, I know that I am idiot and I really find it hard to explain what to do. However, to understand what I mean, try examining what I did with the articles tracked by the Techmeme.

  1. Tech Big Men Hitting Each Other Big Names
  2. Being Sued Scared Me
  3. Blogging On Politics
  4. Yahoo! Tracks Google Adsense Clicks
  5. Banned Sites At Digg, Unbanned

How it works?

This is actually a way of participating the hot discussions on the blogosphere which are being tracked by the Techmeme.

To let you know, every time I lost ideas what to write, I always visit the Techmeme and join the discussion by writing my own blogpost about the discussed articles and mentioning those ideas posted on the different blogs on the DISCUSSION.

And just like what I said above, you should link back to the discussed article and to the blogs that are the source of the ideas or points you mentioned in your blogpost. Linking back to them means, establishing trackbacks from their blogs to your blogpost.

However, you’ll not only gain traffic for your blog through the trackbacks you’ve made from the blogs on the DISCUSSION. If your blog successfully gain the attention of the Techmeme and list your blog on the DISCUSSION, then this for sure will generate more traffic to your blog from the Techmeme visitors. And not only that, if you posted a good comment, points or ideas about the discussed article, most probably other bloggers who join the discussion will link back to your post.

Now, try this because this will really help your blog gain traffic.

Samsung LCD HDTVDescription:

For people looking to step up to full 1080p resolution in a 46-inch flat-panel LCD, Samsung’s 2007 model LNT4665F is a good choice. Besides offering full 1080p resolution the LNT4665F also features a 15,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for rich blacks and subltle tecture display, an 8ms response time panel for smooth motion, hidden side speakers, an NTSC tuner, and 3 HDMI ports.

DNIe improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video inputs. The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time to dramatically reduce edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.

High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the speakers built into the TV. SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass through hidden side speakers. TruSurround XT audio adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.

  • Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into Focus during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.
  • TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself.
  • The SRS WOW feature widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.

LET 2007 Result, Available

Last Thursday, I made mistake by giving you the wrong LET 2007 results and I was very much sorry for that. Then, yesterday, I got a copy of the real result but have a hard time sending you all the notice about it because my site was temporarily suspended by our webhost.

Below is the email to me by the support personnel of our webhost:

Again, I am asking apology for being late in informing you about it. I tried yesterday, but I just couldn’t.

I know, some of you knew the results already through the other sites. But for those who still don’t know about it, here’re the links to the files that contains the list of passers of the LET 2007. Take note that these files are in RTF format and can be opened using the Notepad, Wordpad, MS Word or any word processing software. These files contains NO virus nor any malicious codes.

Secondary Professional Teachers:

I think, I can’t tell you one by one whether you, your love ones, or your friends passed the exam. So the best thing to do is to check the list by your selves.

What if your name is not on the list?

Okay, don’t panic if your name is not on the list. Do the following:

  1. Check the Top Passers below. You might be one of the top passers.
  2. Check the sequence of the number posted before the names of the passers. If a number is missing, then maybe I made an unintentional deletion of your name. But if the sequence of the the numbers is correct, then maybe you really failed the exam.

What if you failed?

Well, that’s life. You need to accept what really is the result of that exam. However, being failed to pass the exam doesn’t mean your life ends already. Don’t ever think negative things. You can still take the same exam again next year.

Disabled WordPress Plugins

This blog of mine really eats up too much server’s resources. There are tons of hits that our blog missed because the server’s system automatically takes down our site to save their other clients. And I consider those missed hits as my blog’s losses.

Anyway, I am very much thankful to the Ploghost.Com support personnel for informing me about it and for giving me hint on how to deal with this.

Now in order to minimize the losses, I decided to take down some of the WordPress plugins installed:

  1. Ad Rotator.  I use this plugin to run the free banner advertisement program of this blog. The banners supposed to be showed at the header of this blog.
  2. Better Comment Manager. This is the plugin that helps me manage the comments posted on this blog.
  3. Comment Relish. It allows me to send a short message to first time commentator.
  4. Email Users. It gives me the opportunity to send important announcement and invitation in the form of email to all registered members of this blog.
  5. Filosofo Enroll Comments. I use this plugin to automatically enroll commentators as comment subscribers on the post they commented.
  6. Show Top Commentator. It is used to show the top commentator at the sidebar of our blog.
  7. WP Digg Style Paginator. This is the one responsible in paginating our blog.

Well. After disabling these plugins, this blog runs better again.

Sorry For My Mistakes (LET 2007 Result)

I was worried that I missed the LET 2007 result, so I checked other sites that publish examination results. In my excitement, I failed to check the content of the LET result that those sites posted, and I thought that the LET result posted is the latest. So,I immediately wrote a post about it and sent it to all who wish to know the results. But after an hour, I noticed that what I got is not really the LET 2007 result but of the LET 2006 result.

So, I immediately deleted the post I made and wrote this one.

I’m very much sorry of the mistakes I made… and I learned a lot from this mistake.

Write Posts and Gain More Traffic For your Blog

Are you wondering what to write for your blog? Are you also wondering what to do to gain more traffic for your blog?

Everybody knows that content is the most important part of a blog. Your blog will not be a blog if it has no content. You can’t even bring people to visit your blog if there is nothing to find there, isn’t it?

However, if you already have published something in your blog but no one visits your bog, it leads you to think that your blog is useless. Useless in the sense that you’ll never benefit from it and you do not achieve the real reason of your blog’s existence.

Well, try reading my previous posts about these, and learn from these posts for you to successfully give life to your blog:

  1. Generating Much Traffic, Change of Niche
  2. Reasons Why You Must Participate the Filipina Writing Contest
  3. What To Blog?
  4. Gain More Blog’s Traffic from Your Trackback
  5. Reasons Why You Must Participate the Filipina Writing Contest
  6. Write Great Content, Gain Great Visitors, Earn Great Money

Did you know?

The very purpose of this post is actually to let our blog’s visitors visit our old posts. And this is also to tell you that you need to apply some ways so that your visitors of one of your posts will visit also your old and other posts.

If you’ll check the content of my blog, you’ll notice that I am promoting my previous posts in 4 ways:

  1. Recent Posts
  2. Related Posts
  3. Recently Commented Posts
  4. Top Posts

And they are located at the different spots on the blog as shown by the figure below:

Blog

I decided to place them like that in order to make sure that readers of our write-ups can notice the other posts.

However, some of our visitors really tend to ignore the links posted on that spots and immediately leave our blog behind. And thinking of that made me sad, because what I really want is to let our visitors stay longer on this blog by reading our posts whether new or old.

So, to make sure that they visited some of your old posts, it is better if you publish links within your write-ups to your old posts in different ways.

  • When writing your new article, make sure to quote something from your old post and publish link to them.
  • If you’re writing your new article, consider linking to your old posts which you think are related to what you are saying on your new article. For example, if you are writing about gaining traffic, why not link the term “gaining traffic” to your old posts that is related to gaining traffic.

You know, I am doing this on this blog and it really works. So why not try this too in your blog?

Gain More Blog’s Traffic from Your Trackback

Dexter of the Tech at Hand just recently learned that establishing trackbacks from a well-traffic blogpost to your own related blogpost can really gain more traffic for your blog.

To understand what really happened, consider this:

Last September 16, 2007, I published a post about the boxing bout of Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and Marco Antonio Barrera that would be held on October 6, 2007. And on this same post, I gave tips to blogger on how to take advantage of this event and eventually gain traffic, form a community, and gain money.

I am not really sure if Dexter read my post before he posted his. But let’s just consider that his post about the boxing bout is his response to the tips he read on my post. Then he established a link to my post and in response to this, my post publish a trackback link to his post.

As my post continue to gain traffic from the search engines, Dexter’s post gained a share of it. Dexter revealed:

… Thru the report where it shows the referrer of the click, I am able to know that there are some clicks that comes from  Link and upon checking his post, there is not even any thing that was mention about my site. The report is shown below. The blue color is for SELaplana. …

… Then after my investigation , I just found out that I have made a trackback on his highly Optimized post as shown below at his post regarding ” Pacquaio vs Barrera : The Will to Win and to Earn “. and it was my advantage that there are only two comments on this post …

And Dexter became the witness on the truth that trackbacks really help your blog gain more traffic.

Now, if you really love to gain more traffic for your blog, then why not try this technique?
