Wide Google adsense ads tend to perform well at this blog, based on the experiments I did last 2006. That’s the reason why this blog displays 300×250 Medium rectangle ads within the post of our blog, as shown on the image below. This fact is even seconded by Google Adsense Help Center which says:

… The wider format lets them comfortably read more text at a glance without having to skip a line and return to the left margin every few words as they would be forced to do with a narrower ad. The wider ad format also lessens the likelihood of readers leaving the ad unit altogether.

Since these formats allow users to read more text without having to skip a line every few words, users’ eyes have less chance to leave the ad unit altogether. If positioned well, these ad formats can increase your earnings. The formats we’ve found to be the most effective are the 336×280 Large Rectangle, the 300×250 Medium Rectangle, and the 160×600 Wide Skyscraper. …

But of course, it is influenced by other factors like:

1. Keywords. Advertisers choose certain keywords that should be found on a webpage where their ads should be displayed.
2. Keywords Density. The relevancy of the ads to your content is based on the density of keywords. Let’s say for example, if your blog talks more about cellphones, then it is expected that adsense will display ads about cellphones too.
3. Placement. You need to place your adsense ads on the place where users can immediately notice them.
4. Adsense Ads Color. Users tend to avoid the ads displayed on your blog. However, you can make them not to avoid the ads by making the ads blend on your content.

   

But you should not forget that the performance of the ads displayed on this blog will not be the same to the ads on your blog. You need to do the experiment by using different ad size, ad color and ad placement. Then use the best performing ads (with particular size, color, and placement) on your blog for you to earn much from adsense.
