Learn Lessons From The SilkenHut Blog
Let’s examine the SilkenHut blog and learn important lessons from the blog. We will review the blog and I will try to examine everything, and then give you some important comments and recommendation that can be applied into your blog too.
The SilkenHut
Last July 2007, Allen decided to create his own self-hosted Wordpress blog that will contain blogging tips and tutorials based on his knowledge and lessons he learned from the experiments he did and from reading other blogs.
Currently, the Silkenhut blog is ranked by the Alexa as the number 508,770th and is ranked 137,861st at the Technorati. We couldn’t tell the exact number of the unique visitors the blog has because Allen didn’t mention it on his blog, but I guess the blog is currently has few unique visitors.
The Theme
The blog is currently using the 3 column design made by certain Dave. The design is good and is using an attractive color. If you are reading my blog since January 2007, you probably knew already that I hate the way the side bars are placed.
I already mentioned important things that should be considered in designing 3 column blog like this at my post, “Things To Consider When Designing 3 Column Blog.”
The Content
Your topic is good. However, you should make sure to show your authority to the topic you are writing.
Remember that tons of visitors will flock into your blog if they consider you an expert or an authority to the topic you are talking about. Since you are talking about tips on blogging, so let your visitors think that you have enough knowledge related to blogging.
Okay… You’re new to professional blogging, but that doesn’t mean that you don’t or even can’t have authority to the topic you choose, “Tips on Blogging“. If the 13-Year Old Filipino blogger succeed in blogging, then you can succeed on this too. Consider reading my post “Even Idiot can be an Expert, Be an Expert Like Carl Ocab.”
So, since your blog is still new, it is better if you regularly post your write-ups at your blog. Publishing 1 post a day is better than posting 3 write-ups in 1 day and then nothing on the next days. If you can write 2 or more write-ups in one day but you are not sure if you can publish even 1 write-ups on the next day, then you better set the TIME-STAMP of your posts. To know how to TIME-STAMP your post, read my posts: “Time Stamping Your Posts“, and “Returning To My Blogging Base“.
Finale
Please don’t be embarrassed if I was talking negative things about your blog. Just want to help you and your blog. Reade my post, “Even Idiots Can Blog Better Than Smart Blogger“.

Hey thanks for the review…
I’m not ashamed of the points you have raised about my blog. In fact, I am very thankful of it. Thanks very much. I will be changing my theme soon when I manage to find something nice. My current theme that I’m using is because I liked the colors. Now I know that even themes and sidebar placements have effects.
I learned a lot. ^_^
Allen
I am new to all this too. My About Blogging web-site is pretty limited on information at the moment but any knowledge I get from my other blogs I add to it. I think this is all a learning experience really. That’s why it’s useful to visit other blogs and read reviews like this.
at least allen has an authentic information! unlike you selaplana, your using tactics to trick people! talking about your LET 2007 result posting, you linked 2006 result to get more viewers. where is you morale huh?
ooow… i smell some grudge here.
having 3000 subscribers waiting for the much anticipated exam result is a hard thing right? Committing that mistake surely made the author of this site to be more responsible in making his posts, You don’t want to lose the trusts coming from these 3000 subscribers right? As I see it, it’s you road to riches. It’s your ticket to fame.
And for marianne, he already made an apology. (I’m not sure which came out first, your comment or the apology)
hmmm??? sino kaya si marianne.. may galit ata hehe.. huli ako sa balita ah.. haha
i think marianne is a blogger too.. not really sure. She considered some of my posts as pagmamayabang. Well, I need to thank her too dahil she taught me some lessons….
