Pinay Scandal Experiment Success and Clarification

I recently participated the SEO experiment organized by Macuha by writing my Pinay Scandal post, “Pinay Scandal, Let’s Play The Trend.” However, our feed-email readers are diappointed thinking that what we are promoting here is the real Pinay Scandal files (video, photo).

Okay… Just want to make it clear that this is not to promote the real Pinay Scandal things, instead it’s a fight against the real sites that promotes Pinay Scandal items. This is just an experiment to steal the huge traffic from the real pinay scandal sites and let those visitors find good things from the participating blogs.

Just like what I said on my previous post, the number of users who are looking for Pinay Scandal items via the search engines like Google and Yahoo is now increasing. And to make use of this traffic, we create or write a post about Pinay Scandal, then SEO the posts to win the top SERP on the Pinay Scandal searches.

Currently, Macuha’s post got the 3rd spot of the Google SERP as shown on the screenshot below:

Pinay Scandal

This means that Macuha’s blog is now enjoying the traffic brought by Google search engines particularly from the Pinay Scandal SERP.

Our target for this experiment is actually not only to gain traffic from the Pinay Scandal searches but to conquer the Google SERP on Pinay Scandal. This is actually a fight against the real Pinay Scandal sites and we should kicked their sites off from the top SERP of any search engines.

If you want to support this fight, then write your own post about it.

Filipina Eyeball, I was There

The Filipina Eyeball (Digital Filipino Meet-up) was successfully held last night at the Ponciana’s Kitchen and was really fun. That was my first time to come out from my den and meet some bloggers in person. Yes, and I meet a lot of them but just couldn’t remember all their names and blogs’ URL.

Finally meet Ederic, the GMA7 guy who’s responsible of the interview of me made by Ms Sheryl on my blog about the “Jewel in the Palace” last 2005. Jehzeel of Jezhlau Concepts was there too along with pretty pinay bloggers: the Lady in Red and the other one (forgot her name). Macuha, the Pinay Scandal Writing founder, was there too and his the one who brought the luck with them on their table (Lahat yata sila sa table nila nanalo :-) ).

Want to thank the bloggers on our table for giving me time to chat with them: Ms JoJo, Mr. Pandeli, Ma’am Shenl, the pretty one (forgot her name). Mr. Photographer was there too. Finally meet also the popular Pinoy EMarketers like Mr. Titik Pilipino, Mr. Galing Pinoy, and their company.

And of course my idol and favorite columnist, Ma’am Janette Toral of the Digital Filipino. Siya nga pala, Ms. Aileen Apolo, Ms. Google Philippines, was there too.

At sa lahat ng mga sponsors: Well Com, ICT, E-Games, etc (I forgot their websites)… thank you so much.

YesAsia Said ByeBye to their In-House Associates

The YesAsia’s own in-house Associate Program, one of my top-source of online income, will be terminated. The program is not really terminated. It’s their in-house program only because YesAsia now use the third party to manage their associate program. This is what the email from the YesAsia Team has told me:

We have an announcement about the YesAsia Associate Program: we’ve decided to transfer our in-house program to a third-party affiliate network, in hopes of offering a more professional platform, up-to-date promotions and more frequent payments than in the past.

Our plan is to phase out our in-house associate program by the end of 2007, and we will pay all commissions for sales generated up till December 31st, 2007. However, we will stop updating our associate banners by the end of November.

Currently, our commission rate will stay the same, but working with an affiliate network comes with many benefits, including:

– Access to a product catalogue feed with over 50,000 products
– More banner formats
– More frequent promotion updates
– 30-day cookie tracking, so sales will count for up to 30 days after a customer visits your site.
– Enhanced tracking on some networks, e.g. even if a customer deletes their cookies, Webgains can still track the sale.
– Monthly or weekly payment in USD by either cheque, bank transfer or PayPal
– Cross-tracking with You will receive commissions from if customers purchase after visiting both and your site.

I am still interested with the YesAsia program. After all, this is my 2nd top online earner. And I am planning to make use the Google Adwords in making more money from YesAsia’s products.

Just recently, I signed-up an account from the WebGains. WebGains is the third party service that manage the associate program of YesAsia. Currently, I am still waiting for their approval on my application.

Playing Safe in our Blog’s Discussion

The Inside Adsense blog gave us tips on how to determine whether the content we are writing in our website or blogs are still considered family-safe content and are qualified to be published along with the Google Adsense. Here’s how:

While it’s not a sure test, we sometimes suggest that publishers ask themselves the following questions to determine if content is family-safe: Would I be comfortable viewing this content with my parents or children in the same room? Would I feel comfortable viewing this content if my boss walked up behind me while I had this content on my screen? If the answer to either of these questions is no, then it is likely that some advertisers would not be comfortable showing their ads on such content and we might consider it mature.

Sexual Tips

Last April 2007, I published my answers to the questions raised by one of our blog’s readers about the Sex, Sexual Romances and Sexual Intercourse. But the Inside Adsense told us that the blogpost I posted before is already considered an adult content:

Our policy regarding adult or mature content may include any material that is not appropriate for all audiences. While this obviously includes full nudity or sexual activity, it may also include textually explicit sexual content, image or video content containing lewd or provocative poses, strategically covered nudity, see-through or sheer clothing, and close-ups of anatomy that would be inappropriate if shown nude. Additionally, topics such as sexual health and sex tips may be held to a higher standard of professionalism than content that isn’t bordering on mature.

According to them, Sexual Health and Sex Tips should be “held to a higher standard of professionalism than content that isn’t bordering on mature.

On The Way To Filipina Blogge’s Eyeball

Today is the day of my flight to Manila. I will be on board with Cebu Pacific plane from Tacloban City to Manila.

My fiancee is very much interested to go with me (to attend the bloggers’ eyeball) but she just couldn’t leave her pre-elementary pupils in Marihatag, Surigao del Sur. We’ll also unlucky for I can’t bring her back any photo that will be taken from the eyeball and party because I don’t have my own digital camera.

My Expectation

My friends here in Southern Leyte asked me if I was expecting of something from the eyeball. I just told them that I just want to meet some of the Filipino bloggers who I meet only at the blogosphere. I really don’t know what activities the organizers of this event are planning. What I only knew is that the winners of the Filipina Writing Project will be announced during this event.

Expecting a Prize?

Actually, I am not expecting of winning any prizes from the contest. I participated the contest not because of any cash prizes but because a lot of things you’ll learn and you’ll get out of this contest. I already mentioned these things on my previous posts about the Filipina Writing Project isn’t it?

And one of these things that I will learn and get from this contest is to learn how to go out my den and meet the bloggers that I’ve already meet blindly via the internet.

Just like what I mentioned on my previous post, I am shy and don’t really know how to deal people. But at least I will try to be with you guys.

I wish that I will really learn a lot of things from this eyeball.

Good luck and God bless you all.

Earthquake Jolts Philippines? – SELaplana

I was in SIRE internet Cafe (Barangay New Era, Quezon City) when I heard the news about the earthquake that jolted the Philippines at 12:29PM.  Xinhua website reported:

An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale shook the seas west of Luzon, Philippines at about 12:29 p.m. (0429 GMT) Tuesday, according to a bulletin released by the Hong Kong Observatory Tuesday.

The epicenter was determined to be located at 16.0 degrees north latitude and 119.9 degrees east longitude, about 85 kilometers west-southwest of Baguio, Philippines.

I was actually wondering why I didn’t experience it. Was it because I was 3,100 meters above the earth or was still in Tacloban city?

By the way, I am now blogging here in SIRE Internet cafe in Quezon City.

4 SLR Digital Camera I’m Interested With – SELaplana

    Canon EOS 40 D Description:

Building on the success of Canon’s perennially popular “prosumer” EOS 20D and 30D models, the EOS 40D advances the state-of-the-art for mid-range digital SLR cameras, making it a natural first choice for advanced amateur photographers and entry-level professionals, and an ideal second body for more established photo pros. Indeed, given the level of feature upgrades and improvements, technological wizardry, and user-requested creative controls, the Canon EOS 40D SLR’s “prosumer” appellation may refer more to its accessible price point than to the exceptional quality, clarity, and resolution of the images it creates.

From the camera’s newly enhanced, 10.1-megapixel CMOS imaging sensor (designed and manufactured by Canon) and its proprietary and super-efficient DIGIC III image processor, to its completely redesigned autofocus sensor and fast, 6.5 frame-per-second (fps) continuous shooting capability (for bursts of up to 75 Large/Fine JPEGs or 17 RAW images), the EOS 40D SLR puts the fun in functionality and makes serious photo business a positive pleasure.

Is Bidvertiser effective in monetizing your blog?

Last month (October 2007) I received an email from my fellow Filipino blogger regarding the use of Bidvertiser as a way of monetizing a blog. I already replied her email but I want to share with you my thoughts about it. Here’s her email:

I noticed that your blog displays bidvertiser’s ads along with the Adsense ads. I am already banned from Adsense because I cheated it and already learned lessons from it. And today, I received the email from bidvertiser that I am accepted from their program. …

My question is, “Is bidvertiser an effective way of monetizing a blog? …

The email was actually written in Bisaya dialect, so I translated it to English so that our non-Bisaya readers will understand it.

Adsense vs Bidvertiser

Well, Adsense and bidvertiser are both effective in monetizing a blog. They are both considered as contextual advertising services. However, you should first understand how the two ad servers work so that you can apply the right thing into your blog.

For example:

Even if your blog’s niche is about technology, if you constantly blog about a wide variety of topic just like this blog of mine, then using the adsense is much better than using the bidvertiser.

Well, it’s because Adsense has the ability and capability of detecting important keywords from your blog. And these keywords are the ones used by Adsense system to decide what ads should be displayed at your blog.

On the other hand, bidvertiser depends on what category you choose at their system for your blog. What I mean is, the bidvertiser’s ads that will be displayed at your blog are fixed based on the category of your blog. If you entered your blog to the technology-category of the bidvertiser directory, then all the ads under the technology will be displayed on your blog.

What if you use the bidvertiser ads on your blog that contains wide variety of topics? So, what will happen is even if the topic of a particular post is about personality development, still the ads displayed at that particular post will those ads under the Technology. In other words, there will be pages on your blog that will contain non-relevant ads.

So, to maximize your earning when using bidvertiser as your means of monetizing your blog, you need to focus on the topic of your blog. If your blog is entered into the technology category of the bidvertiser directory, then focus on technology.

Now, what about if you want to blog about making money online?

Well, you can blog about making money online and you’ll earn much from it through the bidvertiser. But you need to build a separate blog about it and enter this new blog into the money-category at the bidvertiser directory so that all the ads that will be displayed on this blog will be the ads under the money-category. Then focus all your thoughts on that blog to the making money online topic and other related things.

Join the Adsense again

But did you know that you can still join the Adsense program of Google even if you’re already banned from it?

Try reading my post, “4 Steps in Re-registering to Adsense If You’re Banned From It.
