To let you know, the fall of the value of Dollar has affected my monthly income. Instead of earning PhP50,000.00 for $1,000, I only got PhP42,000.00. And now, we’ll facing again another percent of the fall of our monthly income, just because Google changes the clickable area of its Adsense ads units .

The purpose of this change is to avoid invalid clicks just like what Google had said (via Problogger):

“We’re rolling out a change to our text ad formats to help reduce accidental clicks and increase value for advertisers…..This new format will match the changes we’ve implemented on Google.com to help decrease the number of accidental clicks and increase the number of ad conversions. A reduction in accidental clicks will keep users on your pages, interacting with your content until they choose to click on an ad. This change will enhance the user’s overall experience with your websites and improve advertiser campaign value, but it’s likely that your click-through rate will decrease.”

However, this change makes the adsense ad units hard to click. Remember that the whole adsense area including its background is clickable before, but now only the title of the ad and the domain remains clickable as shown on the image below (image stolen from Problogger).

Is it now the time to dump Adsense?
