Do you really know what my problem is or it’s just a coincidence?” This is what you or one of our feed-email readers asked me. Here’s part of his email:

Did you really know what my problem or it’s just a coincidence?

Before I opened my computer, I was really thinking on how to stop my addiction on online games. I was addicted to Ragnarok since 2004. When RAN was introduced, my interest in playing Ragnarok was diverted to RAN Online. And this October 2007, my interest was again diverted to ZERO Online.

My addiction to these games really affected my performance in school. There even times that I found my self thinking of ways, techniques and tricks on how to increase my character’s level easily and fast. And when I am home, I can’t stop my self in playing online games.

Just like what the idea on the article you sent me, discipline is the only answer to this to stop my addiction. But the problem is how. How to discipline my self?

… ZERO Online is a newly released online game. …

I actually understand what you feel. To let you know, like you, I am an addict of the newly released online level-up game, the ZERO Online. And I think your ZERO Online character is created at the Galaxy – Moon server, just like mine. Well, if you will be online today, just whisper me. My character’s name is SELAPLANA.COM. They are all in capital letters. See you there!

Anyway, you’re asking me how to stop this addiction. But, I know that you actually knew what to do. It just happened that the intensity of your interest in playing online games is much higher compared to your interest to stop playing those games.

Well, you can try the following things and let’s see if they are effective.

  1. Try to forget the online games.
Don’t think about it. If the thoughts about these games flashed in your head, try to erase it by thinking of other things. Instead of thinking about your character in the world of the level-up games, why think about your studies. I know you have tons of assignments in school. You better focus your mind on your studies by performing your assignments or by reading your text books. If you found it hard to do those things, you can try to think of the beauty of your girlfriend and imagining the good memories you have with her.
  2. Avoid sitting in front of your computer.
Force your self not to sit down in front of your computer unless you have important things to do with your computer. If you can avoid using your computer in 3 straight days, then I’m sure you can avoid playing those very addicting games.

However, if you failed to do the suggested ways above, then why not do the things suggested below. I’m sure this is 100% effective.

  1. Disconnect your computer from the internet.
For sure you can’t play the online games if you don’t have internet connection.
  2. Uninstall all the installed online games.
Even if you sit down in front of your computer if no online games installed in it, then how can you play one?

But then, if you can’t still do what have been suggested above, so just continue playing it. Just think of ways on how you can monetize your addiction. Just look at me… I am addicted in blogging but I successfully monetized my addiction.
