I haven’t used yet my new Value MasterCard (Metrobank) and this is also my first time to own a credit card. I am really (but not totally) ignorant about the benefits of it so I talked the personnel of the Metrobank Maasin branch about it, and here’s what I learned.
Value MasterCard, just like other Metrobank’s credit cards, are accepted in over 45 million outlets worldwide, or in any establishments that displays MasterCard (since my card is a MasterCard) and Visa Logo.
Metrobank offers 3 payment options:
- Pay the Minimum Amount Due
- Pay Full Outstanding Balance
- Pay any amount that is between the Minimum Amount Due and Full Amount Due.
And you can pay your outstanding balance through several channels like:
- E-channels for Metrobank Depositors which includes Automated Teller Machine or ATM, Metrophone and MetrobankDirect.
- Automatic Debit Arrangement. This is the channel I used with my Value MasterCard to avoid any hassle in paying my outstanding balance.
- Branch Payments. You can pay your outstanding balance over the counter of any of the Metrobank branches.
Other benefits and privileges of having Metrobank Credit Cards are:
- You can pay your basic utility (bills) using your credit card.
- You can use your credit card to avail installment programs with low interest rates.
- You can transfer your balances on your non-Metrobank credit cards to your Metrobank credit card and pay them in monthly installment.
- You can have up to 4 supplementary cards and you have the options in assigning the credit limit of your supplementary cards.
By the way, just want to inform you that I also posted a write-up at my Naruto Shippuuden Fan blog. The post is “Naruto Shippuuden Episode 39, Out.”

yep… I second the motion on waht Dex has said..
the temptatioin of spending when you own a card is too big.. whenever you see a “credit card accepted here”.. there is a big possibility that you are going to your card..
in the end you will see your bill is piling up.. and did i mention..some card has a monthly flexible charge… in addition a 4% charge is also incurred whenever you transfer amount from your credit card to bank account or when you widthdraw cash (cash advance)…
over all owning one is very helpful..i know you are a wise so I don’t need to reiterate more..
have a nice day and Merry Xmas to you.. Sel

What Privilege are you talking about?
They make money on your purchases and charge you a nice sum for interest and finance charges, should you ever be late on your payment!
I have had LOUSY SERVICE WITH METROBANK CARD
I live in the province and mail comes in late, so I had my credit card bill auto debit from my bank account.. BIG MISTAKE! Metrobank card protects their merchants interest not the card holders (honorable they may be or not). My Dream cable was charged on my metrobank card, when my cable box broke, there was no way for me to stop them from charging my card though no service was provided. Metrobank card said only the merchant can stop the transaction. LESSON LEARNED.
I have had my gold card for 5 years, paying the annual fees and using it only for emergency or precarious situations like charging P 300,000.00 downpayment for my wedding then paying for it in full when the bill comes. Then comes CHRISTMAS CHEERS!
Last week, I was called on by Metrobank card collection services and was told of a 15k bill which i was yet to receive. This week, I again received a call asking why I have not paid the balance and that I have to pay in order to have my card unblocked. WHAT THE F***K!
Hey people! IT”S FREAKIN CHRISTMAS and the busiest month of the year not only because of the Holiday but at work too with the closing year. I may not have paid my bill on time for a variety of reasons but for last FIVE YEARS I have paid the interest and finance charges as a consequence. But to block my card on Christmas week for a 12k bill? I later learned that 3k of it was interest and finance charge for the Oct. bill that I paid in full. It’s just too much.
