For several posts already (here, here, here, here, here, here, here), I presented you the teachings of Apostle Peter and Paul about the rock foundation of the church of Christ. Apostle Peter on his I Peter 2:4-8 taught us that Christ is the cornerstone:

4As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him— 5you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6For in Scripture it says:
“See, I lay a stone in Zion,
a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame.”7Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,
“The stone the builders rejected
has become the capstone,” 8and,
“A stone that causes men to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for. ( I Peter 2:4-8, NIV)

And we all know that the cornerstone according to the Bible is used as foundation.

16 So this is what the Sovereign LORD says:
“See, I lay a stone in Zion,
a tested stone,
a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation;
the one who trusts will never be dismayed. (Isaiah 28:16,NIV)

So, since Christ is the cornerstone, then it is also true that he is the foundation.

But Mr. Morales insist that Apostle Peter was made as the foundation of the church of Christ. Is it really true?

Apostle Paul’s answer to this question is clear that no other foundation that can be laid, except the one that has been laid already who is Christ.

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. (I Corinthians 3:11, NIV)

Since Christ was already laid as the foundation of His church then it is also true that there could be no other foundation that could be laid.

Mr. Morales couldn’t understand that when Apostle Paul taught the truth that Christ is the only foundation and no other foundation of the church of Christ, Lord Jesus Christ was already in heaven. If Apostle Peter was really made the visible foundation of the church of Christ, then Apostle Peter and Paul would be teaching the members of the church of Christ that belief. But they didn’t teach that kind of belief, because Christ didn’t lay any other foundation except the true foundation who is Christ Himself.

He asked me this question: Why is it that Apostle Peter couldn’t be the foundation of the church of Christ?

The answer to that question is clear. Because the truth is, Christ is the only foundation. I already presented above about it.

Another question is: Why did you reject Apostle Peter?

My answer is: I did not reject Apostle Peter. In fact I followed his teachings that Christ is the cornerstone of the church of Christ.

What I actually rejected is the false belief of Mr. Morales that Apostle Peter was made as the foundation of the church of Christ because his belief is against to the truth that Apostle Peter and Paul were teaching. And I have no reason to believe Mr. Morales because he is not an apostle. I only believe the teachings of the apostles because the authority of Apostle Peter and Paul and other apostles is unquestionable.

Mr. Morales prefers to follow his wrong interpretation of the Matthew 16:18 regarding the rock foundation of the church of Christ even if Apostle Peter and Paul clarified it already that Christ is the only foundation of the church of Christ. Instead of believing the teachings of the Apostles Peter and Paul, he prefers to believe the wrong interpretation of the Catholic Scholars even if he knows that Catholic Scholars are not witnesses when Christ spoke the words recorded in Matthew 16:18.

He even tried to twist the truth recorded in the writing of Apostle Paul in Ephesians 2:19-21 and used his twisted idea in backing up his belief that apostles are foundations:

19Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, 20built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. (Ephesians 2:19-21)

Apostle Paul clearly taught in these verses that apostles and prophets have foundation. And this foundation is Christ who is also the foundation of the church of Christ.

Here’s how Mr. Morales twisted the truth written on the verse 20: What was written is “20built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets…” And Mr. Morales changed this to “built on the foundation who are the apostles and prophets…

Mr. Morales even accused me that I couldn’t find evidence on the truth that Apostle Peter couldn’t be the foundation of the church of Christ, yet, I already presented the evidence. And this evidence is the teachings of the Apostle Peter and Paul that I presented on the early part of this article.

But not only that, he even gives his own interpretation of the verse, Revelation 21:14, even if he knows that the scripture should not be interpreted using ones own interpretations:

Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. (II Peter 1:20, NIV)

Mr. Morales used the verse Revelation 21:14 as proof that apostles are foundations of the church. But if we will examine the verse it is not telling us that thing. The verse goes:

14The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. (Revelation 21:14, NIV)

Just because it was written that the city has 12 foundations and on them were the names of the apostles, he immediately concluded that the apostles are the foundations of the church of Christ. I don’t know if he understands that the subject on that verse is NOT the church of Christ but the new Jerusalem or the Holy City.

9One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. 11It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. 12It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. 14The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

15The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls. 16The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia in length, and as wide and high as it is long. 17He measured its wall and it was 144 cubits thick, by man’s measurement, which the angel was using. 18The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. 19The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, 20the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. 21The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass. (Revelation 21:9-21, NIV)

If you’ll read the snippet clearly without adding or subtracting what have been written here, you’ll learn that the one that has 12 foundations is the Holy City, not the church of Christ.

Mr. Morales is not just twisting the truth written in Ephesians 2:20, but he also violated the laws written on that book of revelations that anyone should not add or take away anything from what has been written:

18I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book. (Revelation 22:18-19, NIV)

It was not written on Revelation 21:14 that the 12 apostles are the foundation of the church but he uses that verse in telling me that the 12 apostles are the foundation of the church. What he did is a clear violation to the laws.

On the last part of his email, he told me that I am in the wrong church. But the verse he used to back-up his claim revealed the signs of those who abandoned the true faith and followed the deceiving spirits. This sign is the teachings of demon:

1The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. 3They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. (I Timothy 4:1-3,NIV)

The teachings of demon are: (1) Forbidding to marry; (2) ordering to abstain from certain foods. And these teachings are taught in the church where he is a member. And since he’s in that church, that means, he’s following the teaching of the demons.

He even used the verse, I Peter 5:8 in telling me that I am the devil, without thinking that he is the one who follows the teachings of the demon as stated above.

I suggest to him that before using the Bible in accusing someone, he better reflect first.
