I visited this morning the Maasin City branch of Metrobank just to inquire if the Metrobank credit cards can really receive funds, because one of our subscribers ask me about this:

Gusto ko lang magtanong kung pwede bang makareceive ng funds and credit cards galing from Metrobanks, gaya halimbawa if I will withdraw the funds from Paypal…

For your information, Metrobank Credit Cards whether Visa or Mastercard, can be used in your paypal account in sending money to the other party. However, these credit cards can’t receive funds just like the debit cards.

The Metrobank personnel told me that their Credit Cards can only be used for credit. They don’t introduced yet the Credit Cards that can be used as debit card too. I asked her why they’re not introducing cards that can be used for both credit and debit, and she simply answered me that they’re not ready yet.

Use Debit Card, Instead

If you really want to enjoy your Philippine Paypal account, then why not use debit cards? Unionbank introduce their EON Visa Electron card. Visit this page for more info.

But, I am still wondering if we can use both, the Credit Card and Debit card in just one Paypal account. When sending money, we’ll just choose an option to use the Credit Card. When withdrawing Paypal funds, we’ll just choose an option to receive the funds through our debit card. With this, we can easily send money to the other party using our Paypal account without the hassle in transferring funds from our other bank account into our debit card. Just like what I said, it would be better if we can use the credit card to send funds via Paypal, while the debit card will be used to receive the withdrawn funds from Paypal.
