As of writing this post, my watch told me that it’s now 2:00AM (Philippine Time). I just can’t wait for the sun to rise before writing this post because I want to share you another lesson I learned from managing my blogs and websites.
This evening, I was editing my “Naruto Shippuuden Fan blog“. I removed some useless ads, edited grammatical errors in some of my posts, deactivated some useless plugins and finally edited its theme.
The last job that I did really gave me headache, made me nervous and probably caused my blood pressure to raise. I said probably because I didn’t bother checking the blood pressure and I took medicine immediately when I felt few of its symptoms.
I thought at first the problem was on the CPANEL installed in my account. It’s because everytime I saved the edited file, what was being saved was just a blank file. The file that was affected by this is the SINGLE.PHP of SEL-Clean theme that my blog uses. Since the newly saved file was blank, so if you’ll view a particular post of my blog, you’ll found nothing but a blank page.
I immediately contacted Yuga through his GMail account. I was glad he’s fast to response. He immediately checked my account and immediately found the problem. (By the way, Yuga is the owner of the hosting company, PlogHost, that hosts my account. )
Do you know what the problem is? Well, the problem is not the CPANEL of my account but it’s me.
Yes! The problem is in me. In my carelessness.
Yesterday, the said blog was suspended because it reached its bandwidth limit. This blog (Naruto Shippuuden Fan) is an account under my selaplana.com reseller hosting. After learning that it’s already suspended, I immediately created new hosting package. After that, I upgraded this blog using the new hosting package.
The blog runs smoothly again but I couldn’t edit all the files on this account, couldn’t even use my FTP client. It is actually because I entered a very small amount of Disk Space to the newly created hosting package. The Disk Space is only 1MB while the narutoshippuuden.selaplana.com site contains 30MB.
That’s the reason why every time I edit files, what will be saved is just a blank file.
Now, what if Yuga responded very late? Well, that also means that my Naruto Shippuuden Fan blog will be dead for a long time, thus lost few of visitors coming from the search engines.
I am very much thankful to Yuga for his help. I am also thankful to this incident for it reminds me of my carelessness and the effect of my carelessness to me and my properties.
