Smart Bro Loves Me
Last Sunday, March 9, 2008, the Smart Bro internet went down from 3:00AM to 12:00 Noon. Well, I have no complaint about it since I consider it as a normal thing. There are really times that the company needs to shut down the service for maintenance or what ever causes.
However, I feel like I am special because Smart Bro sent me a notice through SMS, telling me about this internet connection problem. Below is the text message sent to me by Smart Bro:
SMARTBRO Adv: D cellsite serving u is currently unavailable affecting internet connectivity in ur area. Restoration works is ongoing sorry 4 d inconvenience. (from: 5488, date: March 9, 2008, Time: 8:38AM)
I asked other Smart Bro subscribers if they received similar text message that I received but they said they didn’t. Well, I am not sure if Smart Bro didn’t send any text messages to them informing them about the problem. But if it happened that I was the only one whom they sent this text message, then they consider me a special subscriber. So, Smart Bro loves me.
Well, if you are Smart Bro subscribers and received the same text as stated above or similar to that, then I am not the only special subscribers they have. You are special too.
Special child? No! I mean, Smart Bro consider you… us… as valuable subscribers.

special child!
haha.. nice one
I have not receive a text from them, the only time I feel special is when they sent me a Christmas card with discount coupons…
I forgot to tell that the Christmas card arrive last February…=]
Xmas Card from Smart Bro
I think you have to ask the Smart Bro subscribers in *your specific area* (and not just *any* Smart Bro subscriber).
=)
In our area, I haven’t experienced any long down time so i’m not expecting any text hehe
as for the christmas card, same here, the card and the discount coupons arrived last February
When I was still a subscriber (more than a year ago), I have always been asking them to send me text message if they’ll have maintenance on my servicing cellsite (which happens at least twice a week). It’s a good thing that they already do it now. Actually, towards the end of my account, I already receive text messages. Most of the time, they are after the fact but at least they send messages.
Another thing that I asked them is to automatically rebate the downtime instead of me calling the billing dept asking for rebate after the service is restored. Imagine calling the tech support to log your complaint and then callilng the billing dept for the rebate (I encountered 1 whole week of no connection). But my brother tells me that the service now is already better than a year ago.
Now, the problem with this text message is that you’ll no longer call the tech support to log your downtime and therefore, you’ll no longer request rebate from billing.
smart bro doesn’t love you, their just scared of you hehe
Machinista >>> yap… i asked my fellow subscribers in my area… i was the only one who received the text…
Sakura >>> well, it’s just fine for me… anyway, i am subscribing the unlimited one..
Rara >>> lol… just a joke
I had a problem with SmartBro some months ago and I made a post about it on Smart Bro Downtime A Downer.
If its any consolation i did not have any problems with them since… at least none yet.
I was a subscriber for 1 year and cut off my connection last January 2008 because the speed at 200 Kbps from the promised 384 Kbps could no longer satisfy my online activities.
Anyway, I also received similar alerts every time they have unavailable internet connection.
Was this advisory sent to selected users then? Hehe. I feel special, too.
I am now enjoying the speed PLDT MyDSL provides however the connection gets sucky at times. But it still much speedier than Smart Bro.
i got those alerts.. for downtime on areas not on my own. i get alerts on downtime and servicing in binan laguna, san pedro laguna. cavite, makati and quezon city.
none is applicable to me since i was in cabuyao laguna and connected to sta rosa and calamba sites..
I think that was a pretty good post. I couldn’t do it
. Keep up the good work.
Lucky you. You are indeed one of the “Special Children”
My service has been intermittent since last night (8/17/2008) and I didn’t receive any text why, not even an e-mail. I can’t even access my pitiful blog unless I click several times on the “try again or refresh” button on my browser. I am experiencing 25 to 100 packet loss when I ping anything. And to top it all off, most .org, .net and .com sites can’t be accessed. How frustrating.
So today, I e-mailed them cc: NTC, DTI. I dare not call their hotline since I am already agitated and can’t get any work done. As you may well know, those people manning the phones of their customer care hotline are downright useless. They can’t even answer a simple technical question I throw at them. It’s as if I am speaking in a language they can’t understand. Mind you, I speak to them in TAGALOG so as to avoid being misunderstood.
Oh yeah, before this happened last night, I got a speed boost of about 9Mbps. I was shocked and thought it was a glitch. I tried several times and used several Bandwidth Speed Checkers. I even rebooted my PC. The speed ranged between 2Mbps to 9.5Mbps. I even tried downloading a 100MB file and it zipped through it in a few minutes. It has happened before and I knew the inevitable would come that connectivity will suffer after it subsides, and it did.
Grrrrrrrrrr.
