MBC’s new mystery melodrama La Dolce Vita (a.k.a. Bittersweet Life) finds Oh Yeon Soo (Jumong) playing a part reminiscent of Diane Lane’s Oscar-winning role in Unfaithful. Also staring Lee Dong Wook (My Girl), Jeong Bo Seok (Dae Jo Yeong), and Park Si Yeon (A Love), the drama is hailed as a daring portrayal of middle-aged romance and adultery. The drama challenged the current TV censorship ratings with its raunchy, provocative love scenes between Oh and her younger counterpart Lee Dong Wook. Though Oh’s bikini scenes - considered a daring move for a seasoned Korean actress - received the media’s attention more than the drama itself at times, it is her stellar performance as the lovelorn heroine that ultimately earns the drama high marks from the audience.

A young man is found dead in what appears to be a suicide inside a posh apartment in Seoul. Retired detective Park Byung Sik (Baek Il Sub, Mom Has Grown Horns) arrives at the crime scene and identifies the corpse to be Lee Jun Soo (Lee Dong Wook), the very man he had been closely watching for the last six months. Meanwhile, housewife of 15 years Hye Jin (Oh Yeon Soo) takes a month-long break from her cheating husband to relax in Hokaiddo, Japan. On her way, she runs into Jun Soo who is also on his way to the island to identify his friend’s dead body.
