SBS’s new trendy melodrama My Sweet Seoul (a.k.a. My Sweet City) has been compared to Sex and the City for its realistic depiction of thirty-something urbanites in the 21st century. Filmmaker Park Heung Sik, director of the acclaimed I Wish I Had a Wife and My Mother, Mermaid, crosses over to television to helm this simple, yet extraordinary drama about an earnest and instrospective 31-year-old woman looking for love. Portraying the everywoman with easygoing charm, Choi Gang Hyee (Thank You, My Scary Girl) stars opposite Coffee Prince heartthrob Lee Seon Gyun and Ji Hyun Woo who plays the younger man again after Old Miss Diary. Despite the disadvantage of broadcasting of Friday nights, this critically acclaimed series quickly garnered a loyal fanbase thanks to its great writing, direction, and performances. Based on a novel by Jung Yi Hyun, My Sweet Seoul realistically follows the adventures and introspection of ordinary people, nailing the small moments and universal yearnings of the modern urban generation.

Indecisive thirty-something single Eun Soo (Choi Gang Hee) has had her fair share of relationships, but her life seems to have plateaued at 31. She’s been at the same publishing job for seven years, and spends more time drinking with her best friends – level-headed dreamer Yoo Hee (Moon Jung Hee, Air City), high-maintenance Jane (Jin Jae Young, A Prince’s First Love), and guy friend Yoo Joon (Kim Young Jae, The Devil) – than dating. On one particularly lonely night, Eun Soo meets cute and sincere film student Tae Oh (Ji Hyun Woo) at a bar. The two hit it off right away, and the night and their relationship quickly escalate to something more. Eun Soo falls happily into her newfound romance, but she feels constantly insecure about dating someone seven years younger. At the same time, she also becomes increasingly interested in Young Soo (Lee Seon Gyun), an overly serious, yet subtly charming businessman whom she met on an arranged date.
