Divorce brings people together, at least in the case of the new MBC drama The Lawyers of the Great Republic Korea. Starring film actor Lee Sung Jae (Daisy, Stranger than Paradise), Lee Soo Kyung (Soulmate), Ryu Soo Young (Bad Couple), and Han Eun Jung (Full House), this romantic comedy revolves around a separated couple and their divorce lawyers as they duke it out in the courtroom. Though divorce might not seem like the happiest of topics, Lawyers of the Great Republic Korea draws both love and laughter with its wry premise, witty writing, and great performances.

Embroiled in an expensive divorce, Han Min Gook (Lee Sung Jae) can only count on his gungho attorney Woo Yi Kyung (Lee Soo Kyung), who runs a small one-woman practice. Yi Kyung can’t afford to lose this case, but things get sticky when it turns out that Min Gook’s wife is her good friend Lee Ae Ri (Han Eun Jung) and, worse yet, the rival attorney is her first love Byun Hyuk (Ryu Soo Young) who walked out on her years ago. Sparks fly inside and outside of the courtroom as they try to make sense of their tangled relationship and triumph in love and law.
