How to Redirect Webpages to New Domains?
Previously, you are using your old domain for your website. However, just recently, you decided to change the domain of your website because of some reasons. After implementing the changes, you found out that your supposed visitors failed to visit your website because they’re still directed by the search engines to your website through that old domain which is already an empty one.
Now, your goal is to redirect all the visitors from the old domain to your new domain. Another thing is, if your visitors visited the URL “olddomain.com/page1″ they should be redirected to the URL “newdomain.com/page1″ so that they won’t lost. And the one most important thing to do is to make use of the PR of all the webpages of your website so that the search engine will rank all the webpages of the new domain in the same way and the same ranking that the search engine ranked all the webpages of the old domain.
So, what should you do?
Actually, the solution is just simple. What you need to do is to edit the “.htaccess” file within the “WWW” directory of your webhosting account or you can create the new “.htaccess” file if you didn’t find it there.
Below is the content of the “.htaccess” file:
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^olddomain.com$ [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.olddomain.com$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.newdomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]
Replace the “olddomain.com” with your old domain and the “newdomain.com” with your new domain.
After implementing this, everything will do according to the goal you stated.
Good luck!
