Kalesa Ride

Updates via email... Enter your email address:

It was on the year 1998 when I rode for the first time the Kalesa when I went to the Iglesia ni Cristo-Locale of Alaxa (Cebu City) to attend the worship service. I enjoyed the ride but I ended it up vomiting.

What is Kalesa?

Kalesa is a Filipino term for carriage. In other parts of the Philippines, it is called Karitela or Karitelya but not Karomata. According to the Philippine History, Kalesa was introduced to the Philippines as a means of transportation for the noble and high ranking Filipino on the 18th century. And it is still used in some provinces, and tourists spots.

Kalesa Ride in Ormoc City

The Ormoc City government through its tourism department offers the Kalesa Ride around the Ormoc City park. It’s similar to the services offered by Kalesa operator in Rizal Park of Manila City. I just don’t know if the Kalesa used in Manila is similar to what the tourism department of Ormoc city is using because what is displayed is a Suzuki Jeepney.

As my wife saw this, she kidded me… is that the Ormoc City Kalesa?
