Pacquiao TKOs De la Hoya

Sports writers, boxing fans, and other personalities thought that Oscar De la hoya would win the Dream Match boxing fight (Pacquiao – De la Hoya) just because Oscar De la Hoya has the advantages over Manny Pacquiao.

However, the result of the Dream Match showed that those predictions made by everyone are wrong and that the advantages of Oscar De la Hoya over Manny Pacquiao is useless against the speed, power, and mastered technique of Manny Pacquiao. From the first round up to the 8th round, Manny pacqiao controlled the fight. Oscar de la Hoya hurt Pacquiao in the 5th round but De la Hoya’s power is not enough to throw the Pacman into the canvas. And only a smaller percent of the punches of De la hoya successfully hit Manny Pacquiao’s body because Oscar De la hoya had the hard time taking the timing on hitting the Pacman who was very clever.

In the 8th round, Oscar de la Hoya was struggling to stay on his foot while Manny Pacquiao punished him with several power punches. There was even a time that Oscar de la Hoya hold the ring just to avoid falling down. Oscar de la hoya was saved from the knockdown when the bell rang. And he was further saved from the knockdown by his team’s decision to stop the fight.

Actually, the fight was not yet over at 8th round. The De la Hoya team avoided the possibility of knocking down in the 9th round. That’s the reason, I think, why the team decided to stop the fight.

Anyway, it is still a TKO.

Pacquiao lost the fight, In my Dream

I was watching the Manny Pacquiao vs Oscar De la Hoya match (Pacman vs Golden Boy) and I was really nervous of the result. During the first round and second round, Pacman seems so very strong, but then during the third round he was weaken by a hit on his right side and more punches on his head that send him off the canvas. Oh my God! My boxing idol was lost! He was lost!

I was screaming like that until I wake up.

I realized that was just a dream. I don’t know why I was dreaming about the boxing bout of Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De la Hoya. I am not really excited to watch the dream and I am not even thinking about it.

I am already imagining on what will be the result of the boxing bout of Manny Pacquiao versus Oscar Dela Hoya. Manny and Oscar considered this fight the “Dream Match”, and I also considered it “the match that made me dream of losing my bet”. The fight has been set already and no one can hinder them on their exchange of punches this coming December 6, 2008.

The Filipino fans of the “People Champ”, Manny Pacman Pacquiao, were very much supportive on the past bouts of Pacman. They were very much positive that their boxing idol would win against his opponents.

But this time, lots of the Pacman’s fans are thinking if Manny can still win the fight against Oscar Dela Hoya. They might remain supportive to the Pacman but the doubts whether Pacquiao will win on this boxing bout against Oscar Dela Hoya are already conquering their minds.

Actually, there are some legislators of our country (Philippines) were trying to stop this fight for they knew that this is a mismatch. They’re thinking that fighting against Oscar Dela Hoya who is 4 inches taller than Manny, and has 5 inches more reach compared to that of Pacman, is simply an absurd dream. And they think that to help Manny’s career is by stopping this fight.

But who can stop this fight? Of course, no one from the Philippines can stop this fight except Manny himself. Manny Pacquiao is not just licensed professional boxer of the Philippines, but he is also holding a license from the USA. And we should not forget that the fight will be held in the USA not in the Philippines. In other words, even if the Philippine’s authorities will suspend Manny Pacquiao’s license, Manny can still fight for the “Dream Match” on December 6, 2008 in MGM Grand Arena.

And why should Manny stop this fight? Absolutely, this is the Pacman’s dream to fight the Golden Boy. It is even true that both Manny and Oscar Dela Hoya are dreaming about this, not just to win the fight but also of gaining much money from this fight. Actually, the tickets for the 16,000 seats of the MGM Arena are sold out already in just two hours last September 26, 2008. They are not yet fighting but they already showed how best sellers they are.

Fans of Manny might be worring but then they can’t hide their excitement while waiting for the day of the “Dream Match“. The two fighters are both popular. They both have large size of fans. They both have excellent boxing-fighting skills. They are both businessmen. They are both gamblers. They are both loved by their respective fellow citizens. So, this fight will really be an exciting one for us who wants to know who the better boxer of the two is. And the two fighters are already been excited already thinking how much will each of one of them receive as share from the income of this fight.

But is it possible for Pacman to win and throw the Golden Boy into the canvas? Well, we can’t tell yet. But there is a possibility. Remember that the Golden Boy, Oscar Dela Hoya, is already on his 35th year on the earth. He’s already old in the world of boxing, while the Pacman, Manny Pacquiao is still on his peak. The Golden Boy is strong but not really that fast compared to the Pacman.

But then if we will look at the advantages of the Golden Boy like his height, weight, reach and experience, I think, Manny has the higher percentage of losing this game.

Is Oscar Dela Hoya really more experienced than Pacman? Well, talking about their professional experience Manny Pacman Pacquiao who fought 52 (47 wins with 35 by KO, 2 draws, 3 losses) professional fights is more experienced than Oscar Dela Hoya who fought only 44 (39 wins with 30 by KO, 5 losses) professional fights. But Oscar Dela Hoya started as an amateur who won (all in all) 223 wins with 163 by TKO and has 5 losses. Besides, Oscar Dela Hoya is a 10 time champion in 6 divisions while Manny Pacman Pacquiao is only 4 time champion in just 4 divisions. So, by just thinking of these things, I think Manny has no chance to win the fight.

But just like what I said already, no one can really tell who will win. Let’s just watch the “Dream Match”.
