everybody is looking forward of the automated voting and counting process for the 2010 election here in the Philippines. However, some people are still feeling negative on this high tech election because cheaters could cheat the election easily as long as they have contacts inside the commission on election.

Actually, the clean and honest election this coming 2010 depends on us voters. Let's just be honest and avoid molesting those candidates, and most of all, we should be vigilant.

The case is of Phillipines not very different from the one in my country Tanzania and most of the African countries..
JUst to compare: in Tanzania and most of African countries it is obvious that when a candidate fail to get the poat would give a lot of complains ooh the election was not fair, ooh the results were delayed, ooh my people were rejected to vote, ooh the election comitee was in the side of the winning party and a lot of other complains.

However if you compare the system of election in US and the one of our countries you will learn a lot of differences which make each side to be at the extreme.
That is our countries at the extreme undemocratic while our fellows the extreme democracy.

There are a lot of factors which make me say so.

Some of them include
1)The leading party always win the election even by force example Kenya 2007/2008 election, Tanzania 2006 election,Zimbabwe election, and many other examples

2)The opposition is surpressed to make sure it doesnt criticise the government.

3)The leaders fix the electoral comission so that they ensure vistory for the ruling party

4)The votes which seem to be opposition's get spoiled or stolen

5)A lot of governmemts money is used to cheat voters

6)The election results are delayed to make sure they get enough time to fix the results

I have a lt to say may be I will add later

Africa is for Affricans and only our freedom and democracy can make us not the most underdeveloped continent and the goalkeeper of grants

Good day to everybody....especially to the people Republic of the Philippines... What I can say is .. The Philippines economy still down and we the filipinos are trying to help the government or step up the economy by supporting the government by giving a moral and political support to the government but our government were not interested to find the problem in every municipality, (local or distric) we have lot of people are unemployed because the government has no plan and program to enhance the filipino workers. Instead to help us and give a moral support to find a job, we are demoralized because of lot of training & courses to be taken before you get the job. As a poor filipinos, we cann't afford to take this course or training because we don't have enough money to pay the courses. Mrs President - please look forward and find the problems of all filipinos, and please conduct ramdom visit to all general & provincial hospital of all provinces. Lack of doctors, no medicines supply. As I observed, before a normal laborer can afford to buy 1 kilos of rice and 1 pc of noddle or egg. Now, 1/2 kilo or 1/4 kilo of rice only. The PPA bill in every month (electricity) need to stop this, this is an illegal deduction from the people, the Electricity office (Meralco, etc.) still deducting more money from poor people without consuming the electricity. For example : my bill is 1,500 pesos - the PPA charge is 400 to 450 pesos - it is not good...it is unfair or unlawful... we hope this kind of problem will pass directly to the Office of President Gloria Arroyo. Thank you and more power.

Just to comment on item 2.
I don't have direct access to this fact but i was informed by my Managing Director, who is an American, that there were more than 200 official candidates in this election. However, only 2 came from dominant parties. In fact, as an absentee voter, he voted for a candidate called Mitt (and am not even sure of the spelling). That's probably why we only learn of 2 due to media coverage.. But the rest of your observations are generally true.

My personal belief is that change starts with me. I know cant change the culture in my immediate neighborhood, but i can influence the culture of my kids, my wife, and my house helper. The ripple effect will multiply slowly but it will surely. Just sharing my thoughts.

The first thing to do is to change first their selves so that they will know what changes for the country and the corruptions of every country.
