How to Choose the Right Topic for Your Blog?
If you want to start a blog, one thing that you should do is to choose the right topic for your blog. Actually, you can create a blog of any topic just like what I did on this blog, but if you want to earn huge money from it, you should choose the right blog topic?
You might say: You are telling us to choose a particular blog topic, but your articles in your blog have a wide range of topics! It’s like you’re telling us to do a thing that you didn’t apply it to your blog?!?
It is true that this blog, “SELaplana“, has a wide range of topic from Personal things to technology, products, entertainment, religion, and other topics that my articles are talking about. This is actually my failure to follow the lessons that I already learned long before. And because of this failure, I also failed to earn huge money through my blog.
You know, those who successfully write blog- articles on the topic that they think is right for their blog successfully earn huge money through their blog. Some bloggers earn $1,000 up or even more than $100,000 a month through their blog.
Let’s take John Chow as an example. He started his blog like what I am doing with mine. He wrote articles about anything in a wide range of topic. But then when he focused his blog into one niche, “making money online through blogging“, John Chow started to earn huge money. And just this October 2008, he revealed that he earned $34,350.93.
You would ask me: You are telling us now that you are not really successful in blogging yet you are telling us before that you are already successful. What is really the truth about it?
The answer is that what I told you before and what I am telling you now are all true.
I started this blog without thinking that I would earn huge money from it. I was just aiming before of getting lots of traffic coming into this blog and that I would earn enough money to finance my blogging jobs and my needs.
It is true that I am in the process of getting huge traffic for this blog, but I am already successful in getting enough money from the blog. And just like what I already told you a lot of times, I have no other sources of income but blogging alone. And from this income, I spend part of it for my daily blogging expenses, and the other parts are used for my family’s daily needs. So, with that, I can say that I am already successful.
However, I am again telling you now that I am not yet successful in blogging. And it is also true because after successfully getting my goal before, that is earning enough money from the blog, I am now again aiming to earn huge money from it. And the truth is I still failed to reach that goal.
Confusing, Isn’t it?
Actually, the very reason why I am telling you to choose the right topic for your blog is because I know that time will come, you will be aiming to earn huge money through your blogs. So, why should you start like how I started with my blogs when in fact there is a short cut way of reaching your goals.
You see, I started blogging on this blog last March 6, 2006. That is 2 days before my 29th birthday. I am already blogging here for more than 2 years now but then I haven’t yet earn huge money from it. If I only followed this tip, “choose the right topic for your blog”, when I started blogging here then maybe today, I am already rich, have my own cars, and my own house.
So, since you really want to start blogging, then go ahead on the short cut way. Choose now the right topic for your blog.
You would ask me: But how to choose the right topic for my blog?
Here’s what you need to do:
- List down the topic that you think you have passion to write about them. Maybe you have passion on Cellphones, Digital Camera, Cars, Credit Cards, etc.
- Now, you need to pick one topic first for your first blog. Consider the following tips in choosing a topic from the list of topics you have:
- Do you have enough knowledge or experience about that topic?
- Can you really write articles regularly about that topic?
- Do you think people have passion in that topic?
If your answer to these questions is YES, then pick and use that topic for your first blog.

- Don’t pick a subject just because you see others make money writing about it
- Avoid writing about something you are passionate about, but very few other people are

I think the hardest part is choosing a topic/niche for your blog, after that it gets easier…i just started my blog and like yourself i look after John Chow and his success in blogging. but as of right now im just trying to get traffic to come my way

Maganda sanang pag aralan ang affiliate medyo dami kong work ngayon kaya di ako gaanong makaporma kasi I heard medyo mas madaling kumita dyan .. madaling mahirap.. I mean kapag nakuha mo na yung ga technique it will just flow
Last year malaki laki din ang kita ko sa PC Security Shield bilang affiliate. Wala akong naging expenses dahil hindi ako gumamit ng PPC kundi through advertising lang sa mga blogs ko. Pero sabi nung kasama kong affiliate, mas lalaki pa daw kikitain ko if mag-invest ako sa PPC at iba pang paraan.
Gusto kong gawin ang ginagawa nila, pero kailangan ko munang malaman sekreto nila para maging successful affiliate.

Hello everyone,
My name is David Cohen and I am new to this forum. I am not sure if this is the right category that I should be posting this topic but forgive me if not.
