How to make Adsense Ads Relevant?
I mentioned before that for you to increase the CTR of your Adsense, one of the ways you need to do is to increase the relevance of Adsense ads shown on your blog.
Actually, showing relevant ads on the Adsense ad units placed on your blog is one of the main characteristics of Google Adsense. Google Adsense has the ability to read your content, and to decide which of the ads on the Google Adsense system should be displayed on every page of your blog.
For example: A page of your blog talks about “Manny Pacquiao vs Ricky Hatton Fight Results” and the content is well written. After the Google Adsense spider that page, Google Adsense will assign relevant ads for that page so that every time the page is loaded at the visitors’ end, the relevant ads will be shown.
Why is there a need to increase the relevance of the Adsense ads?
Well, the main reason why you joined the Adsense Program of Google is for you to earn money from your blog through the Google Adsense ads. You provide the content for the visitors of your blog and Google would be responsible in showing ads on your blog hoping that your visitors will click on them.
But sometimes, you are wondering why the CTR of your Adsense is too low and that your Adsense income has been affected. What’s with the ads, why your visitors won’t click your ads?
Actually there are lots of reasons why your visitors wont click the ads displayed on your blog. And two of the main reasons are:
Reason 1: Your Visitors are Ad Blind.
Visitors of your blog who knew what ads are and how the ads look like are ad blind already. As they reach the page of your blog, they immediately scroll the page down to the content avoiding the ads placed on top area of the page.
Most of these kind of visitors are bloggers, webmasters, and other tech savvy people. Your frequent visitors or repeat visitors knew already where the ads are so they are also avoiding the ads.
The solution on how to make the ad blind visitors click your ads is not bound on this article, so just visit my article, “How to cure the ad blind visitors?
Reason 2: Google Adsense are not relevant.
Obviously, if the Adsense ads displayed are not relevant, the users who visit your blog even if they’re not ad blind will not be enticed to click on the Ads.
Usually, visitors will click the ads if the ads are relevant to the information they’re looking for in the internet.
How to increase the relevance of Adsense ads?
I have here two ways on how to increase the relevance of Adsense ads?
1) Write quality article focused on important keywords.
Writing quality articles for blog is one of the ways I suggested on how to increase the number of the feed subscribers, and how to increase the page views of your blog. And it is also effective in increasing the relevance of the Adsense ads on your blog.
However, the article that you should write and publish in your blog doesn’t only have quality but should also be focused on the targeted keywords.
For example, if you want to write about the “Pacquiao vs Hatton Boxing fight result” and you want to make the Adsense ads relevant to Pacquiao, Hatton, Boxing, and Boxing Bout Results, then you should mention those keywords for several times. But of course you should not overdo it to avoid any penalty from any search engines.
2) Use Section Targeting.
Google has introduced the Section Targeting. This is a way of suggesting Google Adsense what ads you want to be displayed in your blog.

I just noticed lately, after I changed my blogger template, the CTR has increased but the average earnings per click has decreased. I am now wondering if the template’s got anything to do with this as all the content are the same. I really enjoy reading your tips, thanks!
It’s a good thing that the CTR increased. I checked your blog and the theme is indeed good and Adsense friendly.
I think, the decrease of your Adsense earning is caused by the drop in CPC of the ads displayed. I checked the ads and they’re relevant.
Ah okay, now I get it. Thanks SELaplana!
welcome
Thanks for this nice ifo. Let me try this. Will come back to share my experiences.
