How to Make your First Time Visitors Return to Your Fresh Blog?

You tried everything I suggested in my article, “Immediately Getting Traffic to a New Blog” and you found those techniques effective. In just one day of doing the tips I gave you, your blog already got almost a hundred of visitors.

But the real problem is, on the second day, those visitors who visited your blog did not return to check your updates.

So, what should you do so that those who are first time visitors of your blog will revisit your blog again?

Converting First Time Visitors into Loyal Readers

Actually, not only those bloggers whose blogs are new are having problem like this. Even those who are blogging for several years already are still looking for ways how to make their visitors return to their blog to check for new updates.

For example: Last March 6, 2009, 2 days before my 32nd birthday, this blog celebrated its 3rd year anniversary. But then, according to the Google Analytics which is tracking the visitors of this blog: of all the visitors who visited this blog, only 5% (average) are the daily returning visitors. In other words 95% of them are first time visitors.

Actually, one of my goals is to increase the percentage of the repeat visitors because repeat visitors (including the feed subscribers) are the loyal readers of this blog.

But how?

Well, actually there is only one way to do that… Offer them interesting and useful articles.

What I means is that: Publish more interesting and useful articles that are related to your niche or to the topic of your blog. Once your first time visitors found your articles useful, then I’m sure they’ll come back to check your blog for new articles you wrote.

This is true. Actually, ever since I discovered your site, I keep coming back for updates. I also reread some of your previous tips as they are all great. Before, I don’t blog for money because I don’t know how. But your site is now helping me to leap over those hurdles.

This is an Interesting post. However, one must not forget that first time visitors who do not return to our blogs are also fine if the blogger is making money from Google Adsense. This is because these first time visitors came more or less from search engines and are looking for something to buy, and therefore will click the ads.

Returning visitors are more important if you are into affiliate marketing, selling ad space, or building an email list. Otherwise, you can hardly make money from them immediately. Readers love to read, leave comments, and follow the blog. But they don’t want to buy or click ads. Most of them may even leave you if they learned that you are selling them a product.

      Yap, you’re right.

But this article is actually related to my previous article wherein SEO result is not yet felt. So, the blogger behind the new blog actually wants to have visitors while there is no effect yet on the SEO that he applied into his blog.

  3. Great post! This is my first to visit your site through topblog site.

Right. Converting your first time visitors to loyal returning visitors is a big problem, especially for beginners. But, for a more established blogs like your blog, it is much easier to convert this type of visitors. Of course, giving them information that is HELPFUL, USEFUL, AND INTERESTING.

More returning visitors = more blog traffic.

  8. Yeah you’re right. My blog’s returning visitors has been increasing in the past few months since I started blogging. I am also looking to increase my feedburner readers. Returning visitors make me feel worthy that there’s always a regular reader that keeps on returning to read new and fresh articles. It makes me feel happy and more inspired to write more quality articles.

I have blog and website, but google analytics is tracking only my website at this time. My site is having 10% avarage return of existing visitors. I think for a website/blog succeed depends a lot on returning visitors.
